Duane was his half-brother, and died in 2013.
But, who is Dan? Probably a brother in Christ. "Prince has already submitted 50 pages of the manuscript. He is working on the book with Dan Piepenbring, who has been associated with the Paris Review. Prince referred to his collaborator as “Brother Dan.”" Click here for ArticleWhat? |

I would agree there are those that hate on everything, that's their problem.
However, assuming every opinion that is not "positive" identifies a hater is unwise.
I think this book will be a fascinating trainwreck (based on the reasons I mention in my first paragraph) and I am no hater at all.
Thing is, not everyone here falls in the hater or famboy categories. Some of us still love Prince but temper our expectations based on our experience as longtime fans. It might be hard to tell on the org, but there are still moderate hardcore fans that will like or dislike a project based on it's merits and not automatically hate or automatically think everything is a masterpiece. So don't assume everyone that's not gushing and praising is a hater. Cool?
I would agree if it is also agreed that liking a Project does not instantly make you a 'fam'. Whilst we all like or dislike certain projects etc there is also a slightly inbuilt bias I would assume for people generally liking Prince's work as this is essentially a site where people who like some aspect of Prince's work congregate. Truthfully, the one thing I love about Prince fans is that we agree on almost nothing, everyone is different and I genuinely adore that. It makes for interesting conversations where people present their own stories and interest in Prince's work.

I must admit I have never worked at a Company that didn't require Yes men. It was usually a case of saying do this and you saying yes. Why would anyone employ people who constantly refuse to carry out your wishes?
This is not a criticism of Prince but I never saw emplying 'Yes men' as anything strange. |

The optimist and fan in me says:
.
"This could be an interesting read."
.
"It's good that he's working on the project with people not closely associated with him."
.
"Maybe the book will include a CD or download of new tracks or live recordings from the Piano & a Mic tour. Hard to imagine Prince telling a story without involving music of some kind."
.
And the pessimist in me asks just one question:
.
When has Prince announced a project a year in advance that has fully materialized?
.
Hoping for the best... [Edited 3/19/16 9:36am]

As much as I want to be excited about this, I can't help but acknowledge whenever Prince is given an extended opportunity to talk, or has full artisitic control of anything outside of his music, I end up shaking my head and wish he hadn't. Still I am sure the insight into his music will far outweigh the wackiness. |

Rapidly realising that this place is a bit of a cess pit of very insecure, bitter people. Fact is that this book WILL be released, it will be filled with riddles (it wouldn't be a true Prince project otherwise!)and it's already made a great impact in the mass media...despite the deluded ones on here who deny his relevance. Personally I'm pleased, WON'T condem it before its released and I am so looking forwards to it

Good luck to his publishers. Guess he found another sucker; I hope they haven't already paid him for this.
Gotta love how this thread was a reasonable discussion of a project between fans with various levels of excitement and some trepidation, except for one infamous bitter ex-fan who can't stand the idea of fans being positive about a new project.
It's really simple : list all of the posts you have made about Prince in the last 20 years and look at their contents.
Good luck to anyone who knows you in real life and has to deal with this constant level of misery-guts bullshit. You're so consistent that people could set their watches by you.
How about you tell us all about something Prince has done that you've enjoyed or appreciated in the last 15-20 years? Just one. Go on.

exaqctly, vwry insightful, in which he and only he can tell. this could be huge for him as he is the last man standing fior whom we know reqally nothiing about.. it appears he knows his legacy is intact, he has acted above reproach, all things considered in rock and roll and people have been clamoring for his story.. |

I highly doubt this book will ever be finished or see the light of day. As fans we know how spontaneous and short attention spanned prince is. To commit to a project with release over a year from now? No freakin way. He'll start work on it then no doubt lose interest and shelve it, leave it unfinished in the vault.
he is working with Dan and Chris Jackson , a hella of combo..this appears to be well thought out |

WB, who announced the Purple Rain remaster last week, said that Prince
has already remastered the 9 original album tracks, and only has to

It should be out soon, said a rep. "Prince writes all his own songs, so
of course he will deliver a wonderful remaster. It's gonna be volcanic!"
whats all this???? Pentacle's sense of humour. |
