Hmmmm.... if it finally comes with the Purple Rain re-masters Cd then I will buy this book, otherwise I will let it pass.

It's been a very long time since I cared to read a Prince book, (even tho I have a lot of them books stored).

I sure prefer the old music rereleased, ahead of some book..... the "grumpy" old man (me) is speaking.. lol

Yep, this would tie in perfectly with remasters, so that's why I hope it IS going to happen.

An offer he couldn't refuse... if he backs out, he'll find the head of 'brother Dan' in his bed...

It's really simple: list all of the publications Prince has been involved in and look at their contents.

Good luck to his publishers. Guess he found another sucker; I hope they haven't already paid him for this.

He said they made him an offer he couldn't refuse, so he probably recieved an advance. He might make more money from this than from his albums! wink

You don't get a simple song lyric so his book would have you all fucked up. But don't wish it away, just leave it alone.

Those being "negative" might have seen/read all his interviews, official magazines, the 21 Nights Book, or anything he's said/written online ever, and might just be logically keeping their expectations low as they've learned that over hyping an anouncement like this will surely lead to disappointment. How is that negative? cool

That said, I've bought and read well over a dozen books about Prince, I'll be sure to do the same with one that he does himself, even though I expect more than a few cringeworthy moments. wink

Exactamundo. Any longtime fan knows realistically it's likely to be delayed or not happen at all.
.
But if he has been made an offer he can't refuse...then we'll probably see a book full of riddles, poems and jibberish since it's confirmed to be 'unconventional'

A written-word journey through one of the most enigmatic lives in music coupled with a huge boxset of remasters and outtakes would be amazing. I just hope it happens.

Interesting that it only goes up to 2007, years 0-49, maybe they'll be a future edition 50-?

There's something about getting older that you can't help but reflect on the past and realise your mortality.

Gotta love how this thread was a reasonable discussion of a project between fans with various levels of excitement and some trepidation, except for one infamous bitter ex-fan who can't stand the idea of fans being positive about a new project.

It's really simple : list all of the posts you have made about Prince in the last 20 years and look at their contents.

Good luck to anyone who knows you in real life and has to deal with this constant level of misery-guts bullshit. You're so consistent that people could set their watches by you.

How about you tell us all about something Prince has done that you've enjoyed or appreciated in the last 15-20 years? Just one. Go on.

I hope he doesn't go overboard with the "unconventional" aspects of it. I'd rather a more straightforward autobiography.

With Prince, I actually think I'd rather have a really well-researched biography; perhaps one that he'd cooperated with the author to produce. Doubtless, I'll read his book, if he every finishes and publishes it, but he hasn't been the most open and honest person when it comes to telling his life story thus far, so I'm not sure if he's going to start levelling with us now. And I have a fear that this "unconventional" approach might mean drifting off into mystical talk whenever he gets to something he's not comfortable coming out with.

Might have some interesting insights, though. I'd love to read him describing the creative process behind some of the music. If he goes into depth on that, it'll be a great read.

--- I am sure their will be insight into the creative process and almost all autobiographies these days have ghost writers these days to help organize the book. Unlike a lot of the negative nancies on the board I think this a fantastic idea and if for some reason it does not happen so what. I am not the one out of any money or time and Prince does not owe me anything or any fan anything.

Because people might want to hear some music while they're reading his life story and guess what: you can't buy it anywhere. (If WB is smart they buy up and destroy the last copies.)

Who knows, Prince might go into a lot of as yet unreleased songs, so it's the perfect time to present

pristine copies of all music, released and unreleased to the world. Fucking understand me?

But who knows, it might just come with a 5 dollar coupon for a Tidal subscription.

Their entire mental fantasy is based upon the illusion that Prince can do no wrong. The thought of that illusion being shattered scares the hell out of them, because once that's gone...who are they?

I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

Saw it here too.

Finally we can compare the Per Nilsen books against the Prince man's reality.

It'll be the same as the official versus unauthorized Miles Davis biographies. (I read both)

If the memoirs will be like his live albums they will be heavily edited, embellished and censored.

Its pretty simple. If the name "Mayte" appears in the book it will be a good and honest endeavour. If not, it will be a big pile of crap. I'm leaning towards the latter, lets be honest.

But I believe his commitment to a book project when I have the book in my sweaty palms.

The book should cover his youth until last year in enough detail or it will be a miss.

Thank u for saying this. Alas with a constant barrage of opinion presented as fact his credibility is zero. There is no balance. I sit on both sides..somethings I like some I don't. ..but what I do have is balance. The old argument still holds true...if u hate something so much why hang on.. just move on? Truly bizarre and frankly sad. I genuinely feel sorry for this individual and others like him.
