Yes the Ipod classic is great: I have both versions 128 GB & 160 GB, all two in very mint condition & full of music of Prince, The Time, Sheila E., The Family, Wham!, George Michael, FGTH, The Jacksons, Wendy & Lisa, Terence Trent d'Arby, Jill Jones, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Alicia Keys...

I also read books most of the time on my kindle now, and I seriously wouldn't look back - and I can read those same books on my smartphone too with the kindle app. Honestly, this is the way people! Freedom and mobility! and all this information and entertainment accessible anywhere without the burden of physical product. On occasion I'll still buy a book or vinyl record as a souviner almost of something I love, but even still I usually listen or read the same books and music through these mobile digital platforms now. Have tried it. Hated it. I do not stream anything and refuse to be dependent on a wifi connection to listen to or watch or read something. I still will listen to, watch & read digital files that I downloaded and have a copy on my device, but never streaming. I also refuse to be dependent on a service not closing shop, an artist deciding to change the art (Star Wars Special Edition comes to mind) or pulling it entirely (NPGMC anyone?). I'm glad you are happy with your rental/streaming options. I'll take a pass. If/when renting/streaming becomes the only way entertainment is distributed, it will be the day that I turn to my shelves full of CDs, records, DVDs, Blurays, books, etc... and be extremely thankful that I'm a collector of products that can't be cancelled or altered and that I don't have to pay anything but the electric bill to enjoy. Just sayin'...

I couldn`t agree more with you. Physical copies of CDs, DVDs, Books etc will always be the way for me.

Try looking for F.U.N.K on iTunes where it was released. What happened? They run out of mp3`s?

How did we get into a debate of iPod vs iPhone. The iPhone is an iPod. You can load the exact same music the exact same way (with iTunes) onto an iPhone that you load onto an iPod. Exceot the phone gives you more options. At the original introduction of the iPhone, Steve Jobs even called the iPhone a new iPod.

The fact the iPod Classic has slightly more storage than the iPhone is a temporary detail. Apple just last week released a new iPad with 256 gigs. That'll likely be an option in the iPhone 7 later this year.

We got into the debate because someone who totally embraces streaming decided to tell those that don't that: we don't get it, we're behind the times, downloading is dead, physical formats are dead and the only way to move forward is stream... and oh yeah, we're old or something.


One would think that my iPod & home stereo don't work anymore and none of the music on my shelves will play. But, here I am, jammin' old school!!
