Of course, most of the Piano gigs have been bootlegged and there's a box set coming of the Australian concerts, so "giving" us one single track is rather pathetic.
.
And sheesh, €1.30 for one live track? Pretentious much? How about giving us WHOLE CONCERTS for €10?
Not everyone likes tracking bootlegs constantly, so this will do as a pri(n)cey and legal, artist supportive) way of experiencing what is by most accounts a terrific display of musicianship.
.
Gotta love the famz: "Prince makes millions on this tour!" "Uh, so isn't asking for €3 for one crummy live recording a bit steep, considering HE ALREADY GOT PAID?" "You gotta support the artist!"
.
Oh, and let's not forget Tidal got sued for not supporting artists mere days ago. Real nice platform Prince is promoting. I suspect it is a case of IGMFY. © Bart Van Hemelen

I just immensely enjoy hearing him perform live but don't have much opportunity to do so, is that a problem? Plus I've paid more for infinitely crappier music before so it's all relative.
As for your argument he already got paid, that's ridiculous. Thank God artists who "already got paid" to play live released their performance as recordings, or the history of recordings would be much poorer.

I don't have a final verdict here, but it seems Tidal has paid out all their royalties for Yeash through Tunecore and the problem lies with Tunecore or somewhere else down the line and not Tidal.. |

You do realize that Prince doesn't set their prices, right? And Tidal's response to that suit paints a VERY different picture. Let's wait to see how things play out before casting judgment, shall we? |

why is it always so difficult to get Prince music. I actually have a Tidal account butg cant' stream the song. So I go to buy it and instead of using my credit card info on file, I apparently have to put it all in again.
And unlike every other site in the world, Tidal has a message that they can't make the download work with Safari and have to instead email me a link that I have to use with another browser?
It's way too much trouble to just buy one song. I'll just wait a few days and see if it shows up in iTunes. |

You never know with Prince.
I think it's actually kind of strange that he wants us all to join Tidal first, but now says we have to support him by buying the track before it gets released for streaming next week.
Wasn't Tidal (the streaming service) all about supporting the artist?
He could release tracks for download everywhere (even his own site as he did before). You don't need a Tidal subscribtion to download the track.
Also strange that HrN2 is available for download and streaming on iTunes/Apple Music. (he even promoted it to buy it through iTunes on twitter yesterday).
Not complaining but just not that sure he will stick to Tidal 4ever. |

I think firstly it is intersting how many people are happy to have large amounts of bootlegs but find it morally outrageous to support the artist for a track offered for sale.
Secondly, whether or not Prince releases a full Piano & Microphone concert album is it highly unlikely any artist would do that until the actual tour has completed. Releasing the album now would clearly impact future sales and is often meant as a way for fans who couldn't attend the shows or those who wish to have the memory of the shows captured. Whether a cd/video is released is entirely up to Prince although I was confident a London 02 Video Full concert might be released, that would have been very popular. |

I think it may be classic Prince cake and eat it. If it's gonna stream, on service that I'm paying for, then why in the name of fuckery would I pay for it now as I'm kinda already paying for it. Thought the idea of tidal was u get the exclusives for the entrance fee. If it was pre-tidal, is in 3rdeyetunes or when he put things occasionally on Apple I would buy it immediately. The only benefit here is to P, who wants to get paid for individual downloads as well as whatever the set rate is with tidal. He not only wants his cake to eat, but he wants a piece of mine too - if this ends up being the purple prick of the week next week I'm cancelling my subs to tidal. Comin str8 outta Preston... |

I understand your point with Tidal, some artists like Ingrid Chavez do a sign up where if she releases anything you get it as part of your deal. However, with Tidal there are not clear parameters on what you receive as there ay or may not be with a NPGMC type situation. As I understand it Prince has tweeted that Streaming will follow shortly so non-Tidal fans can buy this first but I take the point that this may seem the wrong way round. |

Maybe he got fed up with not making any money because everyone was streaming instead of downloading, so thought he'd try charging first and see what happens. RIP |

Oh pur-lease, there are artists who sell you a recording of the gig mere MINUTES after it has finished. Wanna know what concert videos do? Show people who didn't go to the concert how great it was and encourage them to spend money on tickets the next time.

This annoyed the hell out of me too being an Apple Mac user - way too much trouble, I woudl have thought they would have sorted Tidal out to be more user friendly than it is. This is why I have not subbed to it too. Its a pain in the bum. Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜 |

Firstly, it is not robbery. Robbery wold imply taking something without consent. This may come as a totoal shock to you but you can just not purchase the track if you don't wish to. Houses are stunningly expensive in London so I simply didn't buy a house in London, however your position is that as you don't like the price of a product no-one whatsoever should purchase it. In a capitalistic society a fair price is simply whatever people pay for it. This is not water or food which people have to consume.
Secondly, most artists do tend to release their videos after tours. Often a video such as 'Sign O The Times' can be a way of allowing people to have the concert experience without continuing the tour. For a number of people a DVD would be great but it would undoubtedly deter people from attending. I bought a comedian's concert and it was great but I now feel very little compulsion to pay a great deal to see the show live. |

Really? A very small percentage of videos on Youtube reach a million views and you are stating that nearly 6 million views for a Prince video taken from a VHS Twenty Five years ago is 'pathetic'. I am confused, do you want Prince to be much more prominent and worry about chart positions as he was 35 years ago or do you want Prince to retire? |
