Prince Afterparty Announced At Great American Music Hall In San Francisco SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Did you miss out on tickets to see Prince in Oakland last weekend and Friday night? You might still have a chance to see him at the most intimate venue he’s playing in the Bay Area. Friday afternoon the rumors started stirring that there would be an official afterparty for Prince’s Friday night show at Oracle Arena that would be held at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
The club’s website initially had no information posted, but at around 4 p.m. the party became official when it announced that it would in fact be hosting the afterparty. Not surprisingly for a Prince-related event, there are a number of rules attendees will need to abide by for the show. The Great American will not be selling advance tickets to the party. Instead, the $50 tickets will have to be purchased at the venue’s box office with only one ticket available for each person. The club says there will be “absolutely NO lining up” before 11 p.m. Friday night. The doors are scheduled to open at 12:30 a.m., allowing Prince and his entourage plenty of time to make it over for the party. The diminutive R&B giant has a long-standing reputation for putting on club shows following his larger arena concerts. With heavy rains projected through the weekend, Prince fans could be getting a good soaking (in more ways than one) as they wait it out for this intimate gig. | |

No Phones & No Profanity: An Exclusive Look Inside Prince's Melb Afterparty
His afterparties are renowned for being some of the most exclusive and best-kept-secret functions in the industry and it was no different on Wednesday night as music legend Prince celebrated at Melbourne's Aria Bar & Events, however in an exclusive chat with The Music, the DJ who performed on the night reveals exactly what went down at the party.

Many fans who attended Prince's Melbourne shows on Tuesday night suggested that he was "distraught" after hearing news of the death of Vanity; Prince's protege and lead singer of '80s girls group Vanity 6, however Walker says he was in high spirits throughout the entire afterparty. "When I had my mind set up about what I was going to play, I was like, this dude wants to hear the real shit, he doesn’t want any like, Top 40, he just wants the real underground shit," Walker explains. "I put on this really rare groove, Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers’ Bustin Loose and then he turned around at me and gave me the nod. "I dropped this track by a ‘60s soul band called The Chi-Lites called Bottom’s Up and then he sent the minder up who said, 'What’s this track that’s playing?' He went back and whispered it into Prince’s ear and Prince got his phone out and put down what it was in his phone, so that was great." The only time throughout the night that Walker received anything but positive feedback from Prince's camp came when he dropped one of the man-of-the-moment's own hits, Head, which Walker was quickly asked to turn off. "He gave a requirement that he didn’t want any tracks played with any profanity in it, so I knew that before the gig started and then I was thinking, which track of his do I want to play and that was one of my favourite tracks of his," he says. "...And then he sent his minder up who said, ‘Take it off’."

. Oh for crying out loud, don't you lot pay attention? He's done several of these recently, where he does the sampler set using a computer. Sheesh, it's not like the dude does hudnreds of gigs, you'd think that fans would be able to peruse a forum and read a bit. © Bart Van Hemelen

. They're people who've paid $50 and waited in line at night, do you really think they're gonna admit later on that "it was a bit shit"? © Bart Van Hemelen
