Prince and electronic music

Now days Princes way of making and performing music is

more close to conventional tradicional methods.

In the early 80s he start to push his sound to a more electronic direction

by incorporating linn druim and synths.

He even used linn live.

Do you think Prince loved that electro funk sound or did he do it because

in the 80s everything was

drenched in synths and drum machines.

Idk. I don't think he'd make anything he didn't like, but it also seems like he really loves R&B at this point and I think he probably always preferred R&B but did the whole rock/electronic thing to the extent that he did because it sells.

I'm sure P probably absorbed the Euro electric/pop New Wave acts back then while touring Europe. Kraftwerk, David Bowie, Adam And The Ants, Devo, Gary Numan...P, Dr. Fink and Lisa probably checked all those artists out and did their own thing with it.

Prince has said himself that he was a huge fan of Gary Numan.

Prince wasn't really following anyone with use of the Linn - he was one of only a handful of artist who were sent the original prototype, so him and a few others had a bit of a head - start. Prince really made it his own though.
