CBS did a two hour special on the top performances of the super bowl. They did a piece about Prince with clips and interviews with people involved (not Prince associated). Worth searching for imo.

I bought a promo DVD of the Super Bowl show years ago... I'm gonna have to dig it out this weekend for old times sake...

That performance did nothing to me. Too big, too loud, too Las Vegas. But I know it's a fan favorite so I guess I missed something, or maybe it's an American thing.

It wasn't a mind-blower for me either, but knowing what goes into these shows and how much can go wrong, and the fact that he played in the rain, made it a perfect performance for something like the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl is the biggest, most OTT show on earth. Half time acts get a few minutes to wow the folks in the stadium- and at home- so to keep them from going to the use the can. There's a time and a place for being low key and subtle, and it ain't at the Super Bowl!

Very true. That was the biggest, most -watched performance of Prince's -- and most artists' -- career. And I think he did great to shatter the image of 'Prince the Weird Pop Star' by shredding on guitar and putting on a show that really showed off his talents.

I was there.

Prince's performance was epic. I was terrified he was gonna get electrocuted. We filmed the entire show twice on the Thursday before the game so he had a choice not to go on, but he went. We were sitting on the shuttle bus waiting for him to give the word.

I was so proud of him I cried.

Well, that and I fractured my knee.

That's pretty much how we all looked....until we had to turn around and run off the field in front of a huge piece of the stage. Then we were like.....

The most hilarious thing for me was seeing the faces of the teenyboppers who know nothing about Prince. They were positively spellbound and awestruck. Before Prince hit the stage they were pretty blase' about the whole thing like only teens can be. He blew their little minds and all their cool left them with a quickness.
