Now, is the next album suppossed to be "2000Free: Revelation Year" or "Purple House" (cover songs and re-arranged songs). Maybe both?

I'll give you a summe up translation guys...

Prince played a private concert in paisley park on 03/08/03... The band members are the same with the return of Atlanta Bliss, Eric LEEDs , the Hornheads and a new rythmic guitar player called Ella King, plus a percussionist player long time friend of Sheila E; called Esther Godinez. It is said that the concert was accoustic, Funk blues but was FANTASTIC!!! Said to be his best thing!!!

He played mainly new songs from his upcoming album (AKA 2000 free: the revelation Years, now called "The Purple House") said to be out for june!!!

Among the new material:

The War Script which is a song against the war and GWB administration. It's almost a Hard Rock 'n' Roll thing. It is said we are gonna like it very much but not Bush (if he ever listens to that... In it Prince reveals his anger and his own fears...

Love Stories which is a "strange love song", sad which sounds like a 1999 outtake... This ine could be a hit!!!

I Ain't No Fool: a more R'n B effort than Love Stories but again in it Prince speaks about his anger against the domestic policies of the current administration... Prince could a new "social singer?"

Incantation which is an instrumental piece in three part and the last one is definitely astounding and could get the likes of the Miles Davis followers (circa 72-75)... Prince drops a guitar solo at the end which is said to be purely brilliant!!!

The Silent Majority: it is a dark ballad about the paranoïa running among the black and white people... The author says this song won't let people entirely indifferent...

Wow: it is a gospel effort a la Forvever In My Life...

Here is for the new material. Other pieces were played like Moonbeam Level (yes!!!), Come (soft lyrics!), Kiss (completely reinvented as if Prince built it from the blues deom version and not the Parade version, amazing!!), some TRC stuff, ONA stuff, Paisley Park (also "rewritten"), LRC, When U Love Somebody, I Feel For You, Dark, Eye Wish You Heaven, Walk Don't Walk (I so much like this song!!), Willing and Able, some cover versions...

In the audience were famous MPLS people as well as Sara Remke co owner of the Balck Dog café where people use to come and say their disapproval of the war...

The concert was said to be ABSOLUTELY excellent... He also talked to an official who said the club was under reconstruction and that year three will be outstanding and that the album is finished and set for June when Prince will fake to not party for his 45 years old and 25 years of musical career while partying anyway...

It ain't ova!!!
There is no info if the band members will be the same or if set list will be the same for a tour...

anyone have any idea what that last line was supposed to mean?
"the new album (even better information) is already finished and will be released in june, when Prince is likely to be not celebrating his 25 years of career and his 45 short years by celebrating them...

say what?

The guy meant that Prince will release his new cd and launch a new celebration + website in June and will certainly pretend that June is pure coincidence and that is has nothing to do with his birthday and the celebration of his 25th anniversary in the music industry whereas we all know he picked this month intentionally.

Does it make sense ? I'm a bit tired right now hehe.

Nightcrawler

If it´s not clear to anybody: My translation doesn´t say that "Purple House" or what the new album is called only consists of cover versions and rearranged classics, but that

"the show consisted only of new songs, - without a doubt from his next album of which rumors say that it´s no longer called "2000 Free: The Revelation Year" but (I find it hard to believe, but why not...) "The Purple House" - of cover-versions and rearranged classics .
See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

Ah, now it's clear!

I tell you, if he really puts out a new album and a celebration in June... I so wish I could be there. But I won't hope too much.

Things surely look brighter after this report, and my hope is renewed and I'm feeling much more optimistic about everything, but I am not going to trust this report as definite confirmation of anything quite yet.

When the NPGMC puts up an announcement on the website or emails people about the Celebration and the exact days it will happen, then I'll breathe easier.

pray

I have faith in the Celebration happening, tho. I just need to hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak before I'll let myself get REALLY excited. biggrin

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet but the setlist of the supposed gig included Little Red Corvette, I thought he retired that song never to play it again (I know this is a man who changes his mind more than i change lanes on my way to work but.. ) it adds serious doubt to that report methinks

I just had Estaire Godinez on my radio show on 3.17.03. The reairing will be on
this weekend. The only mention of Prince and Blackwell is when they guested at
her show at Jazzmine's. No mention of any jamming like this at the Park.

So, I would take the word from the participant's to be the truth.

Still discussing this mess? Biting on any damned rumour, don't you think if this media only event had taken place twenty days ago a Prince site at least would have been hip? Otherwise getting the media in (i.e. promotion) would surely be a waste of time. biggrin

Also some MPLS residents would have heard it through the grapevine surely...

Well, maybe unless he wasn't specifically asked about it he wouldn't say something.
And I don't think he played this gig (suppossedly), to have it covered in the media. Just inviting some people.
And I don't know why someone working for a magazine would make up such a thing.
