I've always thought these three songs were one of many career highlights. "If that dont work....YEAH WHAT?" Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Always loved it. Way back in the day I got a bootleg with these 3 followed by Databank and I was blown away.

It's a flat early 90's PP sound (apparently Levi did everything on it, though TC recently hinted that P may have been secretely involved in the recording as well) and TC raps the lyrics. Somehow it works well in the context of the album, and echoes the lyrics of several other songs. I think Data Bank was also from that set of sessions? Hopefully one day all this'll be included in an official vault material album. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Listening to them now and I almost forgot how great they sound together. It's on the second disc of the Dream Factory version I have, and Databank is the track before them, and Big tall Wall after. Big fun.

One of the great treasured and forever linked sequence of tracks as a Prince fan. Love the arrangements and energy of all of these more than the released versions. Heard it first in 1988 ('89?) on a vinyl bootleg. [Edited 1/20/16 10:58am] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

* Girl O' My Dreams While specific recording dates for the initial version of the song are not known, the song was originally recorded in 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio, Chanhassen, MN, USA. The track was re-recorded on 18 June, 1986 at the Crosstown Circle Warehouse, Eden Prairie, MN, USA (the day after Data Bank, Can't Stop This Feeling I Got and We Can Funk).

Prince later toned down the title and lyrics of the song, and re-recorded the track on 17 June, 1986 at the Crosstown Circle Warehouse, Eden Prairie, MN, USA (in sequence after Data Bank and Can't Stop This Feeling I Got, the day before recording Girl O' My Dreams). Yep. I'm glad I didn't know back in 89-90 or so, that 25 years would pass and we'd still not have an official release. I'm tired of Prince's excuses.

Does anyone know the right speed for We Can Funk? Some are really slowed down I prefer the fast Royal Jewels speed. minor keys and drugs don't make a rollerskate jam

This is pretty funny. We all got the same damn bootleg or something! I got mine in 1990. It, also, had classic vault tracks like Old Friends 4 Sale, Witness 4 the Prosecution, and Can I Play With U.

Mine was a vinyl record called "Chocolate Box". It also had "Joy in Repitition" two years before it was released. With the lone drum intro. It had "Moviestar" which segued into "A Place in Heaven" with the girl going with Prince back to his "crib" to listen to an environmental record, but falling asleep and snoring.

I want to say that I remember the environmental record bit but it's been so long since I listened to my boot. I can't remember. The "A Place In Heaven" boot I didn't hear until the 2000's, probably 2009/2010. We're a funny lot us Prince fans, trying to track down every damn thing he did.

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams

Yes, but the vocals seem a little drowned in the mix, just a little low compared to the album version.
