3RDEYE TV What a cool way for a superstar to communicate with his fans! Listening through some of the stuff now and it's really interesting.

It was so cool he did not continue. And that is typical of the Prince man. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

To be fair to the Prince man, it wasn't really appreciated by the fans. The wooh is on the one!

To be fair to the fans, many of us did appreciate it--however, Prince's practice of having the shows in the middle of the night and not archiving them so people could watch according to their own schedules meant that many people either missed them (so they couldn't "appreciate" them in any way) or accessed them through other unapproved channels (which I'm sure Prince would claim not to appreciate). I did spend a few weeks staying up until 1:00 or so every night on the off chance that he'd do a show, but once I was pretty sure someone else would save and share the things, I decided to give up that little pleasure (since I had to be up at 5:00 in the morning) and just download elsewhere.

EXACTLY!! Sure. But there's always someone taping it so you can watch later. [Edited 1/30/16 5:21am] The wooh is on the one!

A: There was no announcements or set times for an airing B: When it ran, it ran at like 2-3 in the morning (because fuck people with jobs/obligations) C: No guarantees you'll get something good for staying up so late (most of it was nonsense) D: No archive for those who have stuff to do to want to watch it later You see why it wasn't appreciated by the fans?

I usually miss anything live out of Paisley because of the time difference, and the inconsitency of what happens when I do sacrifice sleep to watch. I think the Piano and Microphone event was a missed oppurtunity to promote what appears to be his new business model for touring.

Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Nothing complicated.. I just think all signs are that he's planning to tour with the Piano and a Mic concept. It's way cheaper than dragging 5-20 bandmemembers around, so he could probably make more money while giving fans a new reason to come out to the shows. Looks like a new business model for his concerts.

If it wasn't for an excellent fan-made "Best of 3rd Eye TV" collection, I would have missed all of this. As a fan since the early 80s I too don't feel a sense of entitlement towards rare or unreleased material, but I also don't have the patience to be in front of a computer at 2am on a weeknight hoping against hope to catch something amazing. This is the kind of stuff that should have ended up on 3rdeyetunes.com so they could be purchased. Instead, fans living in the real world have to turn to free fan releases to hear limited release material. Unfortunate but true. . Since the tracks were released through official means for free, they are a good case for fans sharing with other fans. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/
