1999 "mini album" cassette tape Growing up in Holland I first bought 1999 on a cassette tape. It was shorter than the album.
I could only find this configuration: http://www.discogs.com/Pr...se/7100820
According to discogs only Australia has this "mini album" version.
I think the track listing matches what I had. The artwork was different.
It must have been German or French. Can someone confirm?

I had a copy of a shorter version too. But cos I was only a kid it was summat that someone had taped of an older sibling - that was in Edinburgh, so I guess the uk musta got a shorter version initially. When I bought it for myself I was pleased to have the extra tracks. Comin str8 outta Preston...

I can't answer the question, but I don't have that version, I wish I'd bought the one that was on ebay a while back. Oh well.

In France we had a shorter version w/out Automatic I think (and maybe one or 2 others) and with HCDUCMA added to it. That was the first version I purchased. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Great. Thanks for posting the pictures as well.
I'll add the pictures to the Artwork directory along with the album. Maybe create these alternative configurations as playlists.

Nice that you still have these cassettes!
All I know is that DMSR (and HCUDCMA) was not on the first Europe CD release of 1999. I got them on CD only after the 1998 re-release of the 1999 CD-single.

These are cool. All I have is a CD which is missing DMSR. The Best of Purple Rain and 1999 is an interesting tape. I have lost most of my tapes except for 4U and Prince and a few later 1990s albums. . The condition of your 9 track 1999 tape is really good condition too. . 12 inch singles are a different story, I have a German 1999 single (Black Music cover), Delirious demo record with a 2 and a half minute version and 3 and a half minute version and the Lets Pretend were married 12 inch. Also the British Double A side from Jan 1985, with 1999/ Little Red Corvette and the single has the 1999 cover on one side and the sleazy inside image i have part of on my avatar on the back. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

A bit outta topic but since we're into old collectibles/formats, has anyone ever heard of, or seen the alleged Head 5-track promo from 80 or 81, that is supposed to contain an edit of Head that was nowhere else? Someone mentioned it on a thread last year but they didn't have it nor any visual but swore it existed. However it's never been reported by either Uptown, Princevault or Boris. I'm pretty puzzled by this. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'd never heard of a 5-track promo before, but could it be the one listed here? Head clocks in at 4:38.

Here it is on e-bay: | |

This one is an unofficial Polish "release." My partner is Polish and she says that takt music used to churn out unofficial compilations and the like, a bootleg company. I've seen a takt music "Sexy M.F" cassette before which had tracks from Graffiti Bridge among others. . Neat wee collectable though.

Mmmh, amazing, thx a lot! It's not what I was told of but nevertheless there IS an edit of Head. Or is there? I wonder: could it be there was a mistake in the length on the label (it's happened before)? Or did everyone just miss it so far? Do you by any chance own a copy of it?
