Delirious in the John Candy movie "Delirious" Watched an old John Candy movie from 1991 and was surprised to see the entire opening sequence set to Delirious. Didn't think Prince was into allowing song rights to be used in movies.

What Prince songs are in those films I bolded? “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Waiting to Exhale - "Head" was played in a club scene.

From my memory, in My Stepmother Is An Alien it's the Tom Jones version of "Kiss". Not sure about the others without searching.

There´s a Cheech and Chong movie where they go to Amsterdam. The original version had Delirious in one scene. They changed that scene when they re-released that movie and replaced Delirious with a similar sounding, non-Prince song named Twisted.

If it's not Prince singing and playing then I don't really count it. P's bank account does though. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Dont forget Hot Dog the movie. (when u were mine) 😂 Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Prince had no say, it was WB's prerogative to licence the tracks. Several other Prince songs were used in movies at the time, Nasty Girl in Beverly Hills Cop and IIWYG in Strip Tease come to mind but there were others. Yeah but same, it's a cover. The OP was about allowing recordings to be featured in films. By definition Prince can accept or decline to licence the masters he owns (IDK the current status of the WB deal regarding their exclusive distribution rights, but all the NPG Records and Paisley Park stuff he owns at least) but he couldn't/can't have a say when it comes to recording owned by WB before 2014, as well as songs whose masters are owned by other labels (covers or songs given to others artists). It was interesting when Kevin Smith said he asked P if he could use The Bird -or was it Jungle Love?- (WB owned) and Prince said "sure", and then he asked if he could use TMBGITW (owned by Prince) and Prince said "nope". Prince most likely knew that anyway if Smith would check it out and bypass P's permission he could licence The Bird from WB, while P had every right with TMBGITW. Another interesting anecdote is that the studio asked permission from Prince to cover Kiss for Happy Feet, Prince said he wanted to see the movie rushes first and he liked it so much he said "OK" and offered to give an additional track. Asking him was sheer courtesy (and that's pretty remarkable), since covering a song is not somehting u need permission to do.
