Simply means that the best music is made without commercial considerations, not that the artist should not be paid his fair share once he 's created his art.

I'm not in a huge hurry to have his complete remastered releases it's something I'm looking forward to in the next few years.

Still try to do it before I'm dead.

He wants a bigger slice of the pie -- a better percentage of the revenues.

While that is certainly principled, waiting more than 5 to 10 years will defeat the purpose as fans get older, deafer and more prone to dying.

Slices may look the same in terms of percentages, but they all depend on the size of the pie.

Isn't that "the truth"? Older, deafer and dying. Bingo. I resemble that remark. Ha.

I agree 100% that artists should be paid fairly for their work, no question about that. Still, it is a shame that the only consideration for him right now is money. He is not even using the 'I don't live in the past' line anymore, it's just money. It's his right, obviously, but it would be nice for him to take his fans and his legacy into account.

Exactly. And the longer he waits more and more fans will die or have moved on with their lives and don't care anymore. And when there's no market anymore, he will not receive the money he expects from any record company.

Yup!!

And, if he waits too long, it will be digital only, and I will skip it...

Release it while you can still sell SOME CDs or lose out on a big section of people who would only re-buy physical copies. I'm not rebuying my Prince collection as digital files. Not. Going. To. Happen. just sayin'... wink

One could also say that the only consideration for WB is money.

Of course, but I would expect Prince to value his music in more ways. I've paid for the same songs several times without complaining, for me they are worth more than the money I pay for them. Obviously for Prince his music is not worth more than the money he makes from it.

You bring up a good point. Many of his longtime fans are now in their 40s and 50s.There will come a time when we won't care about things like remasters and reissues. We will be too old to enjoy 'em smile I also feel that Prince has missed this boat. The time to remaster his catalog was in the 90s when alot of people were still actually paying for music. The sales would have been higher.

but it's a shame that Prince seems so obsessed with money these days.It seems as if he wants Warners to write him a $400 million check before any remasters are released lol I get that artists should be paid for their work, but he's taking things way too far.The truth is,most of his albums weren't massive sellers in the first place.I think he's putting too much value on some of these albums.

Yep, but both should realise 100% of nothing is.....
Good luck with the reissues, but I don't need to buy what I already own.

Super happy with the new music and staying in the present even if it's not all to my taste.
Prince is a musician not a lifestyle.
