I think you'll like him. He can't touch classic era Prince (say, 1980-1988...or even up to 1992). But Voodoo and Black Messiah are great albums. I'd dare to call them "m@SterPiEce$." Oh, it's just my Own Private Delusion: The "—ate" enumeration just reminds me of the "Subterranean Homesick Blues" scopitone.
I can picture Prince, Wendy & Lisa letting cardboards fall.
This way of playing with words is very Dylanesque to my ears.
But maybe I am the only one who feels that way.
