I am for sure gonna check him out right now! That's awesome! I think you'll like him. He can't touch classic era Prince (say, 1980-1988...or even up to 1992). But Voodoo and Black Messiah are great albums. I'd dare to call them "m@SterPiEce$." And Brown Sugar is very strong too. And if you ever have a chance to see him live, don't miss that opportunity. He and his band are stellar!
doesn't need ghostwriters like Angie Stone! Who was D'angelo's ghostwriter on the WHOLE "Brown Sugar" album. Right. He just needs an imbecile like Josh to produce bile like HITNRUN Phase One. I'm not gonna say Phase One is a bad album... But the This Could B Us song almost made me give up trying to become a Prince fan. It was one of the first songs I heard. I was so confused. you can do anything |

I can't believe you guys are bickering over Prince vs. D'Princelo while I've only got 30, maybe 40 years left to live. "The password is what." |

Jokes aside, I need to purchase some D'Angelo. You've piqued my interest.

I don't mind hearing rehashes, but at least let him have rehash "All My Dreams" or "Wonderful Ass", and not that stupid "Extraloveable", which was studio junk in the first place, and still is : stupid chords progression, stupid hysterical vocals, no melody, no hooks we haven't heard before. The whole thing sounds like a paranoid cocaine addict having a bad trip. He just made it more mellow, and, frankly, old : music that doesn't hurt or provoke thoughts.
What makes Wonderful Ass so much better than Extraloveable? I think they're quite similar.
Wonderful Ass has wit. Tongue-in-cheek sex wars. Extraloveable is first degree. Wonderful Ass winks to Dylan (the bridge). Extraloveable is not intellectual, or maybe it is, and in that case I don't get it. Wonderful Ass is sensual. Extraloveable is neurotic.
Wonderful Ass doesn't rely on boring power chords descents and ascents.

Please please please let him NOT rehash Wonderful Ass! He'd probably turn it into Wonderful smile or something. And do you hear a hint of Dylan in there? I'd have to give it another listen... |

to the person who criticized "Extralovable".....
that song is as good as anything on 1999 or Purple Rain! It's a shame that it wasn't released back then. |

Indeed.
And the 'new' version is a washed up let down.
Classics should not be `improved` this way. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. |

Prince hates you. What other artist would speak to his fans in that tone of voice. Like a parent to an itinerant child.
No kidding, hey? The contempt for his fans & WB is so palpable in this tweet and the Ebony interview. Money rules this guy above all else.

Prince should go after all the money he can get for his remasters!
.
He's lost millions by not having a remaster program in the past 20 years or so.

Oh, it's just my Own Private Delusion: The "—ate" enumeration just reminds me of the "Subterranean Homesick Blues" scopitone. I can picture Prince, Wendy & Lisa letting cardboards fall. This way of playing with words is very Dylanesque to my ears. But maybe I am the only one who feels that way.
