Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

. That's funny, I could swear he posted a vinyl mockup of that turgid 3EG record a year or two ago to cause hype. Oh, and he's selling his music through iTunes -- not streaming eaither. Hell, he's selling FLACs and MP3s and actual CDs (for absurd prices) through Tidal. All of those things: not streaming music. . Meanwhile there are new box sets released by specialty labels each week and they must sell plenty since those labels are still doing business. . Oh, and there's Adele. Not on any streaming service, yet selling a couple of million albums, digital and physical. I was stunned to see a display with a bunch of copies of the new Adele album recently at the small newspapers and magazines stand in the train station recently -- she's bloody everywhere. . But don't let those facts bother you when you parrot your dear leader's latest brainfart. . [Edited 12/27/15 8:35am] © Bart Van Hemelen

just bought one for €10 in a second hand store. I have resurrected 100's of cassettes from my "vault". I was actually surprised by the quality of the sound from the tapes. It was going to take me too long to convert these tapes to MP3.
iON USB Turntable with ipod dock (dsiplay model) - €60 Pionner CD player - €19 Sharp cassette deck - €10 Phillips Amplifier and 5 speakers and subwoofer - €35.
for close to €100 I have an amazing sound system probably 20 years old, and steadily building up a vinyl collection. Dusted off all my old CD's and saving my digital music for the car or running.

I just like having something physical to hold and look at, it just feels more complete. Call me old fashioned or whatever... We're here, might as well get into it.

Physical copies are wonderful. There's nothing like holding your music and exploring the artwork and lyrics. you can do anything

I love records.
I can't see records going away completely any time soon. Cassettes on the other hand, I hate almost as much as CD's. I'm so glad they died. So so happy about the advent of streaming and digital formats. Next year Apple and others will introduce higher quality streaming and output on their devices. Even the old 3.5 headphone jack as finally going away after all of these years to make way for digital output. It's rumored the next iphone will not have a traditional headphone jack whatsoever to nudge the future along. Hopefully people will not bitch and moan too much and just accept it. Because it's cheaper to just release digitally. Why waste money printing discs, when the album will more than likely be a flop? This is Prince now-a-days, an flop artist. The only reason why Warner Bros haven't tossed his ass like an bad habit, is because of his legendary backlog vault of great music (made during an time when he actually valued the music over $$$).

If it costs you 10 cents to make a CD how could you lose money? (With regards to Prince). So let's just say Prince sells 10,000 copies and Prince pockets 10 bucks per sale, that's 100,000 minus costs still a profit. Most bands that release a CD don't even make money off their CD sales and what little they may make go towards marketing (Unless they make their own CDs and sell them.). 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

It just seems Warner Bros are now not to keen on spending 2 pennies on Prince. Remember the joint annoncement of unreleased material and remasters starting with Purple Rain? Now all these years later we have Prince begging for Warner Bros to release the remaster of plain old Purple Rain album. Once again (like many of us here wisely predicted) Prince had soured his relationship with Warner Bros once again. That's why he's so keen on tidal to release his medocre "hitnrun" albums. Honestly, I don't blame Warner Bros for this.

You do realize that we have seen stories about the demise of the CD for the past 15 years or so As long as there are record companies and recording artists,CDs will be around indefinitely.

You keep saying that, and yet,I still purchase CDs all the time.Reports about the demise of the CD have been greatly exaggerated. We've been seeing these type of stories for the past 15 years or so! LOL
I'm gonna say this one more time,so pay close attention: AS LONG AS THERE ARE RECORD COMPANIES AND RECORDING ARTISTS,CDs WILL STILL BE MANUFACTURED AND SOLD.

. Nothing to do with quality. All to do with trying to make a thinner phone and locking people furter into the Apple environment. "Want to use one of the many headphones using tried and trusted technology and standard connections? Fuck you, pay $50 for this custom adapter." © Bart Van Hemelen

. Nonsense. An iPhone that's a couple years old won't (properly) run a new OS, and you'll need that new OS to keep your apps up to date. © Bart Van Hemelen

Your iPhone 6 still has few years to go. And there is always android. But the new USB c is will also supplant the 3.5 jack on Android too. People find change hard. That's the death of any tech company when it tries to appease stragglers. Windows, Blackberry for example. When the change comes, normal people will adopt. Opinionated people will hold out for a while as with some people and their flip phones. But eventually you'll see you have to eat crow and eat it good.

Everyone I know who's held out with Android is finally moving on. It's a privacy and safety thing more than anything else. Better products and less worry about malware is a big factor now that people are using their phones more and more to pay for things. Android will step up and make their stuff safer of course, but in the meantime, the average non-tech-savy consumer is best served by Apple. Any company that staves off progress and focuses on their legacy bread and butter product dies. Always. No exception. Dies dead.

Nobody seems to care but cd's as dvd's are compressed version of the original. I like to have physical albums but why can't we buy physical Hi-res copy of it instead ! "You can skate around the issue if you like,

Studies have shown "most" people can't tell the difference. After a certain point the ear cannot tell. People spending a lot of money on gear that is basically throwing money away because of pretentiousness. This is especially true if you do most of your listening from your phone and in noisy evenvironmets with your headphones.
