And still the constant use of 'we', which reminds me of people in the nuthouse

I had to carefully re-read the article after reading your comment. I found one instance (see below) of the word "we" that maybe could be interpreted to be meant as "I", but mostly only if you have an agenda. Every other instance it was quite obvious who the "we" referred to.
So, I gotta ask..... what's your agenda? You literally made this business up about "the constant use of 'we'...". Why did you do that?

The man who signs off on press releases about vault tracks for WB and Tidal and then fails to deliver?
I never heard him say he doesn't like U2. I can't say. And which vault tracks are you talking about?
I like you too/u2. Just/but not the band.
You can find the press releases on-line/on this site.
I also think that removing all you tweets shortly after posting them, is a bit dodgy. Oh, no. Not that again. Prince said it's the same record. Y'all are hard-headed. What? |

If you are a christian and not a sociopathic liar, when you give, whether it be a coat or a million dollars, you do so with zero expectation or strings attached. P also thinks if you stand in his room and play your own music, he owns that too and has every right to all the money made from your music. P even rerecords your musical contribution himself so as to keep more money for himself. Prince true colors show the more real talents refuse to work with him.

I quite like this interview and don't think Prince sounds bitter. He gives props to Morris Day, Eric Leeds, Dr Fink (and Josh ). He admits he finds it hard to trust people (that's what the story about the coat is about, not money). That comes with the territory when you're a celebrity. He don't like people psychoanalysing him and telling false stories about him (who would?). He's genuinely into music and enjoys creating and playing music with other people. He rightly think he has something to teach in this regard.
Exactly. There seems to be an awful lot of overreacting going on here. To be honest, I've been pretty shocked by the amount of vitriol being chucked around.
The thing that spoke to me was when he talked about making music with Morris. It gave me more insight into how he thinks today than all the other stuff most people here want to bang on about.
"You know, it was Morris playing drums and me on the bass. That’s how we would make the basic track. Naked. Just like that, and nobody would know. And then when you put the keys on it and the guitar, then that’s what The Time was. And it was perfect. Going through it now, I can hear all that stuff. Like “The Walk.” I hadn’t heard “The Walk” in ages. It’s like you can’t believe that you did it. I don’t even know how it’s possible. I don’t. I do but I don’t. That can never be duplicated again. It was a time period."

Yes, that again. Press releases. Official promises.
What he said was an off-hand comment in an interview, and we hoped he was just
referring to the remastering of the already released tracks, which is indeed: the same record,
but it sounds much better. Stop the Prince Apologists ™ |

I hope Prince has a Napolean complex. In fact, I'm sure he has it. Why not? I don't want Prince to be normal and sensible. He's not. He lives in his own world and is a creative person. He is quirky. If he was normal and sensible he would be like us. Or Lionel Richie. Funky alien |

I bet this interview was covertly recorded because it appears as if it was quoted verbatim. Even with taking notes I don’t think it would be possible to get this level of detail. That might be why it was yanked.....Prince knows it was recorded and that violated the terms of the interview.

Yes, but it comes off as a backhanded compliment because of the way he goes on about improvising. That's where the real musicians are at, according to Prince, and Fink doesn't fit that bill.
It's the same with the coat: I think he has a right to be angry when someone first steals the coat, and then sells it on top of that. But within the context of the interview, where he seems to lambast a lot of people from his professional past, and says things like 'Who did that? Bring them to me' (remember Voldemort? 'Find Severus. Bring him to me!')... Add all those negative things in the interview up and he doesn't come off good.

So Prince has 1000 coats why should he worry about the single coat a supposed friend stole and sold for profit? I'm guessing that seems strange to people but maybe you're right, Prince only cares about if he Dickerson called him up and said hey brother I stole your purple rain trench coat and I'm gonna sell it for 10k, I'm gonna give you a piece of the pie. I am sure that would have made it all right with Prince. It's not like he stewed about this in the media before or something. Yeah I guess it's ok that just because Prince is rich that those less well off should be able to pimp shit off him and eat too. There really isn't anything wrong with that right? Yeah so let's move on.
Prince is known to leave his shit everywhere, are we sure it was actually stolen? Sheila E sold his outfits at a garage sale. Mayte sold clothes. I remember Wendy and Lisa referencing some clothes he left with them. Remember the ex-girlfriend who tried to Ebay a jacket Prince gave to her and he blocked the sale? Prince has a history of feeling exploited when anyone profits around him even when they acquired the item legitimately. The entire article is about the same old thing: Money, money, money. I'm soooo important, The Beatles got paid more than me and I've got way more (crap) albums than they do. On and obnoxiously on.
Honestly, if Dez fell on hard times and sold a jacket, it's not THAT big of a deal. Prince has plenty of those bullsht PR jackets. Prince has been (no pun intended) rich too long. He's like those folks in your family who got a good job early in life, and don't remember what's it's like when hard times hit. I would be more impressed if Prince heard Dez needed money and put him to work. Bitching about it later in an interview, just shows how petty and stuck on himself he really is.
Uh huh because you know EXACTLY how they got his clothes and Prince constantly bitches about being taken advantage of in interviews with the media. I am so glad we have an inside source like you who is clearly privy to the full truth of these complicated relationships and therefore you have the proper perspective and vision with which to judge this human being and the individuals involved. Lastly, If a friend left his jacket in your house does that mean it's now your jacket? If your friend never came to get it, wouldn't you try to either delivery it or mail it to him? I find it interesting that because Prince 'leaves his shit everywhere' that that somehow relieves him of ownership of his shit and absolves the person who took it upon themselves to shall we say 'care for it' of theft. |

Wow, you seem like a bitter musician. How could you derive something so personal from a man you do not know, an an outsider? how do you know what P worries about personally or even know about his relationship with former band mates. Have you personally interviewed them? have you heard Matt Fink's solo work? It freaking AWFUL. P has NOTHING to learn from Matt Fink and I'm a fan of Matt Fink as part of the Revolution. |

I find it interesting that because Prince 'leaves his shit everywhere' that that somehow relieves him of ownership of his shit and absolves the person who took it upon themselves to shall we say 'care for it' of theft.

what if Fink agreed with his statement?
Sure, maybe he does. But there was no real reason to bring this up.
And just the way it was phrased: And Fink, he’s incredible at that: something he’s practiced. It's like saying he's a trained monkey.
Maybe Prince didn't mean it that way but because most of the interview is so negative... Actually the context here was a question about why Prince brought in Eric Leeds and Prince answers that he wanted an extra solist in the band. Of course Fink played solos too but those were rehearsed. Prince then adds that Fink is still incredible at what i does. The wooh is on the one! |
