I really think this deserves it's own thread. As stated on PrinceVault, Black Muse is a combination of two songs, the second of which is 1,000 Light Years Away.

For me, this is probably the best song on the album. What do you think?

In December 2015 the song appeared as tenth track on the album Hitnrun Phase Two. The last 3:05 minutes of the track as released on Hitnrun Phase Two were in fact another unreleased track from 2011 1000 Light-years Away, slated for inclusion on a never released Welcome 2 America album.

i wonder if they weren't always placed back to back, even on the supposed 'welcome 2 america' album.

kinda like "into the light" / "i will" on 'chaos and disorder'.

the reason i feel like "1,000 light years away" would probably always have been tacked onto a
track is the lyrics beginning with:

"now that i've got your attention", which is not really a way to start a lyric/song. for him to be
talking about having your attention already, something has to come before it. a stand alone

song would be kind of weird starting that way. but part of a 1-2 combo could work well in such
a way. exactly the way it appears on this album now.

might have been separated as 2 individual tracks on 'welcome 2 america' but to me it sounds
like it was always attached onto either "black muse" or another song.

great track though, both of them.

"1,000 Light Years Away" is a big part of why I love the "Black Muse" track as much as I do.

Black Muse is okay, but when it gets to 1000 Light Years Away is when it really takes off for me..
