I Hear Your Voice

Does anyone else wish there was an official released version of I Hear Your Voice?

Such a beautiful song, both the Prince/Rosie Gaines and Patti LaBelle version.

I really think there were some beautiful sensual type songs recorded in the 1991-1992 period. Including 1000 X's & O's And God Created Woman just to name a few.

Would have been such a fitting song for the early 90's R&B scene, would've fit well IMO on Diamonds & Pearls or Love Symbol even though it was never configured for those albums.

Still one of my favorite Prince songs.

Well I think it's a bit too melodramatic a song but I certainly would be interested in hearing a contemporary take on it with Prince on vocals.

I'm not very fond of Patti's version (I'm not very fond of Patti's singing in general) but I remember loving the outtake boot back then. I haven't revisited it in a long time.

In the same register I find 101 to be totally overwhelming and I'd love to hear Prince's original vocals on it (with the same music tracks as Sheena's version, not a rerecorded cut). Hopefully it's in the hands of some collectors and it'll surface one day.

I believe there is another boot circulating with just Prince's vocals.. I believe that is the one I just listened to right before I made this thread.

Of IHYV u mean? I have only one cut, the one that's been out since the early 90's. I don't remember if Rosie's on the bckgrnd vocals but the lead is definitely Prince. Has another version surfaced? eek

Damn! He did so many great songs in the early 90s that never ended up on an album of his own! I Hear Your Voice, Open Book, Love Thy Will Be Done, Hold Me... All of those are much better than anything on Diamonds & Pearls.

IDK about that, except for LTWBD they all sounded pretty generic production wise. So did some stuff on D&P I'll give u that, but I at least the tracks were more worked than those above. I'm mad at Martika for not keeping Open Book though, I'm in love with that track and I'd rather have her singing it than Jevetta.

I like Rosie's background vocals for Patti's version, but for Prince's version I would rather he sing his. Perfect.
What?

Not too familiar with the tune, but its seems like summin Adele might be able to tackel well, from what I remember.

Never been a great fan of "I Hear Your Voice". Good tune, but nothing to write about.

On the other side, "Open book" is a masterpiece.
I really wish sometimes a full pristine quality sound of P. version will surface.

I also like the Jevetta Steele version.

An official release in one form or another would have been nice
But the outtake sounds good enough for me.
Whenever I play outtakes for on this era it makes my list mushy
Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow
I will take my place, In the great below
