Those 20 minute Purple Rains from the 84-85 tour. I mean, I haven't heard all of them, so I'm assuming some of them drag on for a bit depending on the show, but when it's just right as in the 85 Florida show, for me personally it's a sincerely divine almost otherworldy experience. I feels like you're hearing somebody transcend (and I say that without hyperbole); the passion, the expression, the emotion, the vulnerability, the sincerity, the energy. It's absolutely unlike anything I've ever heard.

When he hits that "everybody in the whole world sing!" on the snare....I try to keep these thoughts to myself cuz it's weird, but, that shit is borderline orgasmic for me lol. I can't believe there's people making music that just comes together the way this does. And then it makes me wonder what it feels like to be the musician in these moments.

Anyway, I'm a thrill seeker always looking for things that can move me. Are there any other artists with moments that are comparable to PR?

Great that music moves someone like this, unfourtunately i haven't listened or seen any live show apart from SOTT.

Well, this can be discussed on many levels...but at some point he is hardly comparable to any individual in music that we know till these days...Do you remember what Miles Davis saw in PRINCE back than: Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Chaplin, James Brown & Marvin Gaye...

Honestly, I listen to a lot of artists, but I've only been listening to P for a year and a half so everything is new to me. And he kind of has everything I look for in an artist. So I get excited, pardon me lol.

I guess the turn of being overenthusiastic came around 27-28 for me, so be patient.

Also, the internet has allowed me to discover tons of music by comparison to when I was restricted to buying 4 or 5 CD's a month, and this has played a role. The more I discovered the more I realized that there was TONS of great music but that virtually no artist was as innovative as I used to think they were, because I got more aware of their predecessors and contemporaries.

I think as we grow older we tend to get a bit less excited by everything, or at least to put things more in perspective

And for me it's the other way around. I get superexcited whenever I hear something "new" from Prince. Like Insatiable from the original cut. Man oh man was I shaking when that falsetto kicked in. Or when I heard that guitar solo from "Just my Imagination" Small Club two month ago (yeah, I'm a Prince noob, blow me), that was otherworldy. Been a Princefan 4 years. Listen to a ton of new music, but the man stays very original compared to other artists. The fact that he combined the highest art of music and still remained a superstar is much respect in my book.

You inspired me to listen to Double Live again, something I hadn't done in a loooong time.

I have major issues with that tour, always had, find it somewhat frustrating by comparison to previous or further tours, IDK, something to robotic in its sound. It just fails at recreating the sound of the album while also failing at creating a different sound the way the 1999 or Parade tours managed to keep the spirit of the albums while delivering a different texture.

However there are great moments and the 18 minutes version of PR is gorgeous, I'll give u that.

Like Lovesexy Live 1 & 2, though, my LD rip has a terribkle audio quality: those 2 releases are in urgent need of a proper remaster, if not remixing of the audio tracks.

Yeah, it's just in my nature to be overenthusiastic. I used to try and control it, but now I just embrace it. It's what makes me me lol. I honestly felt like I listened to too much music as a teenager because of the internet, so I actually made the switch to only CDs a few years ago. Gives me a lot more time to appreciate the music I listen to, rather than listening to a new album or mixtape everyday. Overstimulation of the senses.

Prince is dope, but I don't worship him or anything like that, don't get me wrong. I'm just super into black music and guitar right now, and he does (did) it extremely well with a modern twist.

I also don't really care much for the PR tour, I agree with what you said. But they do a dope Irresistable Bitch and PR. And Computer Blue.
