June A Future Gem? I feel the more I listen to this song and the more time goes on, this will be an appreciated hidden gem in the future.
It's a beautiful, simple yet tranquil song.
Really feeling this more and more. I don't think a lot of people really paid attention to this song, but it has that meloncholic feel to it...
Great song. | |

It is one of the few pleasant tunes on Phase One for me, but I wouldn't call it a gem. For me the track is also kind of ruined by that repeated 'swish' sound effect, that really bothers me when I listen to this song. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Yeah. Not future. It's the only good thing on that turd in my opinion. I think it's sublime. But maybe in the context of the half hour or so that precede it, it shines more than it would otherwise. Comin str8 outta Preston...

I didn't like June at first but now I think it's a nice song. Maybe I appreciate June more now cuz the rest of the album (except 1000 X's and O's which is a great track) is unlistenable Welcome 2 The Dawn

The production is a rip-off of Moments In Love by Art Of Noise, so it will never be a hidden gem nor classic.

Thank you - ever since I first heard June, it'd been bugging me where I'd heard that music before. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

Never understand the appeal of this snoozer. I do love 1000 Os and Xs and that club full of thots song Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I love it now. It took a couple listens for it to really hit me, though. His voice is the best part for me.

It's fine. Wears thin after a few listens. It wants to be a trippier "Reflection" but never manages to find itself a point.

Its nice. Sounds like it is on a album that doesnt appreciate it... Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Agree...
It's strange I feel that last three songs like Hardrocklover, 1000 X's & O's and June were a completly different sound from the whole other half of HitnRun Phase 1... It's almost as if it was an interlude to another concept... Which was Phase 2 of course.
But I still feel those 3 songs are the best tracks on that album and was going in the right direction minus all the rest of the songs on Phase 1.

Same. It was like...a bit late to appreciate those songs after a bunch of mess. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

it is a quirky track and for it to appear last...it mellows out this electronic-charged album not quite sure if there is some deep meanigful thoughts in the lyrics or just simply saying whatever comes to mind (in that case he should release a future track just reading current events from newspaper or internet ) Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine..Purple music does the same 2 my brain
..and I'm high | |

its a gem for sure. Just there. It's quintessentially old school Prince in how cool and effortless it is for him, but still like, wtf? And I also have to again say how the best Prince tracks of late have been so chill. Not forced. Not trying too hard and forced to be "FONKY!!" But just badass, like it flows from him effortlessly. I really miss that aspect of Prince's music. Original but still sounding effortless and cool without sounding like he was pandering.

I agree...
Sadly it's just there, on the "wrong" album...
Kind of reminds me of the simplicity of Ballad of Dorthy Parker... At least the mood of it anyway.

Very insightful, in the same vein of Reflection. But the late is much better.

I understand what you mean by "on the wrong album" but maybe the song is there at the end to make the transition with the Phase II. Otherwise, i really love June. "You can skate around the issue if you like,
