FREE URSELF...why isn't it on Phase 2?

I think it's one of his best songs in recent years and I'm curious why he didn't put it on Phase 2, as it would have fitted nicely.
.
He's been selling Free Urself t-shirts so do you think he's got a theme and plans for it to be the name of the next album along with other newish songs?

maybe it's on phase 3, or he felt it too similar to Rnr Affair (it's also a bit like Baltimore in the pacing).

Probably on the next Phase album (or other future album). Might have been because it is slighty more electronic sounding compared to the rest of the Phase 2 songs.

I agree it is a great song that deserves to be included on an album.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I don't see it fitting. And there's not a song on Phase 2 that I would be prepared to omit either. Perfect as it is.

Nah, I prefer Baltimore. Never understood why it gets ratted on so much on here.

The '80 feeling of the song make me think it will be on Phase III with "If I Could Get Your Attention"

This makes sense if Phase Three happens. I also thought it was maybe too close in style to Baltimore and RNRLA to put all 3 songs on the same album.

I prefer to believe Phase III will be. This Tidal/Hitnrun project is working fine.

I think there's a good chance that we will get a phase 3 with Free Urself and If I could get ur attention, especially since phase 2 received such a good response from the fans smile

Too many MaStErPiEcEs on one album. It would have gotten buried & unappreciated. "FREE URSELF stands alone on it's own.

Free URself should have been on Phase 2. Screwdriver should have been on PlectrumElectrum.

It fits pretty well on my mix....lol

I got "Free Urself" as the opening song. I thnk he could have easily taken off Rock N Roll Love Affair...But hey, that's just one of my small beefs...As a whole, this is a damn good album...

I'm thinking Free Urself was recorded after Phase 2 was probably compiled. I think it was recorded with Prince, Mono Neon, Kirk, and Donna lineup.

If Prince would actually do things properly the album should have been called Free Urself and the tracklist would have lloked something like this....

Free Urself

Groovy Potential

Baltimore

Stare

Look At U Look At Me

2Y2D

Big City

When She Comes

Black Muse

Revelation

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Unlikely, given that it was referred to in the Stare teasers that were released last May.
