Did he say funking or the other word? It sounded like the other to me, What a wonderful moment that was.
I looked at my friend and said the old Prince is back and he said "He never left".

I think it was somewhere during the Jam of the Year tour...I saw Prince for my very first time in St. Louis the year that the tour started(can't remember the date, and I just got outta bed or I'd go dig up my ticket stub), but it was like Spring or so and I remember Prince cussin' up a storm at that show...you know...all that "play that MF'n bass, and "you sexy MF" and "next time you pull a card it betta be an ace, MF, or you can lay face down" and when he sang "when you were mine" he'd say, "I know you've been going with another MF", but then the second time I saw Prince, which was later that same year...I think December in KC, or maybe it was early January, he was now appearing with Graham Central Station as his opening act(still the Jam of the Year tour)and when Sexy MF rolled around, he sang the song, but the as the crowd was singing along to the chorus, I noticed he would sing right up to the MF part and he would just stop singing and let the crowd say it. I thought to myself..."wow that was strange". So the chorus came around again, P did the same thing. Stopped singing when the cuss word was there. Then when Sexy MF was over he said something to the crowd like "Ommm...I'm gonna tell your mama!" playing it off like a joke...like the crowd was singing nasty or something. Then, for the rest of the show, he either skipped cursing when the lyric came around, or he would replace it. Subsequently, this is also around the same time he changed "The Cross" to "The Christ" and started doing the stauros speech...you remember...he'd always say "somebody lied about the way somebody died".

I remember leaving that concert that night saying to my sister, "did you notice Prince didn't cuss in any of his songs tonight?" and she said "yeah, how you gonna sing Sexy MF without saying MF. That loses the whole effect!"

So after all that said, I think it was shortly after he met Larry Graham and started hanging out with him...Summer of 97? maybe(don't quote me on the year, like I said, I just woke up and I'm too tired to go dig up my ticket stubs)

He stopped when Larry tapped his ass.

If he was so hardcore and certain in not swearing then he wouldn't re-visit songs in concert which originally featured it.

i don't mind him not swearing at all, my complaint is this..


during the dl version of the npgmc, he provided us with s&m groove, vavoom and lots of live stuff..

he edited out the swearing in s&m groove, completely took out the dirty talk in the background of vavoom, and edited all of the live stuff..

being one who paid the $100 the first day the club was up, i think premium members should have been given a choice.

download the dirty version or the clean or both for those who have children.

but anyway, when i go to the wrecka stowe and buy a disc, i have a choice to purchase the unedited(REAL) version or the unedited(fake) version.

Prince should have given us all the same choice. and as far as his live shows, he shouldn't even sing the songs with swearing in them if he ain't gonna say it, he's too good to cuss, but it's cool for the crowd to.

i was at the st louis show in 97 u speak of, it was my first prince show ever and it was may 27. he cussed like a sailor, but it still was the funkiest show i had ever seen.

in 98 when he came back with larry graham(osama bin blackened) he did the nps songs and some of the joty songs, but there was no cussing, and we(the crowd) still chanted play that mf bass when larry was doing his solo right in the middle of the crowd(right next to me). so cuss or don't cuss, personally i cuss all the time, my fave word is fuck, but i know when and where it's appropriate, and i don't do it in front of my children, my pastor, my boss or my christian friends who don't cuss.

just don't put edited shit out there, we don't want it. either release it and give us a choice, or don't edit it.

On Good Friday in 1998 Prince was in concert(right after the Essence Award show) in NYC. I had heard from a JW friend of mine that Prince had recently visited a Kingdom Hall in Brooklyn and that Prince was studying the religion. I totally dismissed the idea. Well that night in concert the man didn't say one curse. Who knew?

they get doors slammed in their face all the time.. it would piss me off and i would cuss, so i would imagine that just like all the other hypocrates in religion, that they cuss all the time anyway..

my point is if Price regrets swearing, he shouldn't offer and edited version, he shouldn't offer any version. i don't know about u,
but when i hear an edited song, it's not too difficult to get what the edited word is, so i just throw it in there when i listen to it anyway, so if he regrets it, don't release it...at all

Sure many don't want to talk to us and "some" are down right mean about it but I have personally never had a door slammed in my face (yet ) although some of the friends I know have had that happen to them. If a person doesn't want to listen or talk, I just keep keeping on to the next person until I find someone who is nice enough to listen and wishes to express themselves about their own beliefs and about the Bible. I have had some very nice conversations with many people who do not share my beliefs but were open to a discussion.

I don't now when "exactly" prince stopped swearing though. Guess we would have to ask him that. I think it's great that he decided to express himself without the swearing.

i attended both Manchester shows
i remember him asking who played there before him but i dont recall him cussing
i thought he said "who was the last funky person to play hear"

it's not that his music quality has lacked because he stopped, and personally i respect anyone who chooses to do anything and can stick with it,

my bitch is, i don't wanna hear edited music, it cheapens the recording and it's not ever done well enough that we can't tell what word(s) goes in the spot.

if u are going to stop swearing, fine, just don't present music to premium members that includes swearing but is edited. $100 should have paid for my choice to recieve his swearing or non swearing material, not have his edits which make the song suck ass, and makes me cuss because of it.

in a word, don't cuss who cares, just don't offer or promote songs in which cussing is contained, or a major part of it, then edit it. editing is for walmart, and npgmc is not sold in walmart, so fuck it.. .either don't say it or give us a fucking choice.. and if u don't wanna cuss,
