Aussie legend. Saw him at the afterparty of the final Melbourne show in 2012, wearing an authentic 1992 Diamonds & Pearls tour jacket Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Why did Australia seem to hate him back then? "An artist that won't get any radioplay in this country, because they seem to hate him" [Edited 12/7/15 4:25am]

WOW. That bought back some memories. Prince was big with the ethnic, euro-disco crowd, but even then it was only his hits that were known to this crowd. Much like now, the hardcore P fans were only a small community.
And it didnt help, that he never toured down here till the D&P tour in 92. And YET... he never got a chance to interview him, even though he has interviewd EVERYONE! Just another P let down.

Molly did get to interview Prince at least once in 1996 (print media not TV).

Molly actually hosted for Australian TV the 1985 world simulcast of the Purple Rain show from Syracuse. He also premiered the Kiss video on Countdown and after seeing that as a kid I ran out the next morning to the record shop and bought the 7"! Molly Meldrum has always been a big Prince supporter.
