Just a note--if I ever say Prince is pop instead of some other genre, it's not intended as an insult--if anything it's a compliment. Which doesn't mean that when a lot of other people say it they don't mean it as an insult. Many of them do.

Prince is TOTALLY burnt out. If you are waiting on an album that can equal his 80's material it aint gonna happen. He not some angel that floated down from heaven. He's a dude from Minneapolis that can make records. AOA and HitNRun is the best its going to get

If I'm to believe the famz, Prince is a super-wealthy genius who can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Yet instead I see an old man desperately trying to score pop hits with third-rate imitations of what he preceives current music to be, "enhanced" by him adding his tired and predictable gimmicks, bitching about record companies and their ilk who won't fork out millions to obtain the privelege of releasing his latest masterpieces. And his famz are trying to hype this lame shit -- and they know fully well that it is lame shit -- by downplaying his classic works.

If I were 60 and rich as fuck and in possession of a super-de-luxe recording studio and all the time in the world I wouldn't spend it on recording shiteous pop tracks about me being so funky. I wouldn't spend that time bitching about how my record label won't release the substandard crap I'm throwing at them. I wouldn't be pretending to be "above the celebrity game". I would do whatever the fuck I want, and I'd try to write and record meaningful music and put it up somewhere without much care for any income it would generate.

Prince could do it like David Bowie or even Elton John, who both released more personal or uncommercial albums the last years...The new Bowie Video Blackstar is just fanastic and the music as well...

But I think Prince just has another personality...

He still wants to be some sort of relevant or "modern" and he still is too prolific...

In a way that he wants to release as much as he can...

Like with these HitnRun albums: songs he considers to good to be stored in the vault, he wants to get them out...

AOA was a big difference, imo...

Still, and there you have another opinion as we know, i think he still releases a lot of good music...

Hitnrun phase 1 was just a collection of songs, not a great album in a whole, but still...

Would i miss those songs? No
