New sources for Camden, First Avenue and Civic Centre

NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. And that includes any form of asking for/where can I find, I have never heard it, would love to hear it, and any variation of. Temp bans will be handed out with the swiftness..... These rules are strictly enforced! - luv4u

New audience sources for Camden 88, St Paul Civic Centre and 3 First Avenue shows have leaked. These recordings are apparently taken directly from their original tapes.

Do any sound like an improvement on what we've got already? I made a quick comparison between this new Camden source and the old one from Sabotage's Drivin' 2 Midnight Mass and frankly it sounded like the old one was a little better, maybe I'm mistaken as I didn't spend that long on it but that was my initial impression. I'm definitely not trying to be ungrateful to whoever took the time to share these, obviously I appreciate that enormously, but since I'm not a completionist when it comes to collecting this stuff I'm pretty much only interested in the best sounding version.

The version I had seemed less complete than the previous one, didn't have the beginning happy birthday and was missing a fair bit of Forever In My Life as well.

Don't get too excited... The boots we all already have sound better. Cool for completists but not for those who want better sounding recordings.

It appears to be two, one on the 26th December 1984 and the other a matinee show on the 28th.

It is true, but as the comment above me stated they don't seem to be an improvement sound quality wise on what we already have, so they're not necessarily something to be particularly excited about.

Given that hey were leaked for free, I don't see hom any monetary gain could be acomplished from this?

On pressed discs? Either vinyl or CD-worty plastic?

While on the sugject if gigs, why oh why do people go to a gig and spend the whole time talking? When possible I've always moved locations to avoid these idios. This is worst during ballads!!!!! Also, why shout and screem? Do people not realise those in ear-shot actually want to listen to a musician and not to an idiot screaming!!! On one occassion I've even had to 'silence' a drunk person - much to the thanks of othose around us he was annoying.

So if I had my way, I'd ban alcohol at a gig and kick out anyone making stupid noises!!

You have been warned wink

That 1984 matinee show was my holy grail of Prince recordings. I finally got a copy last month. It's pretty haggard, and it's missing large chunks of the show. Does the new stuff have the missing parts? is it even new if it 'sounds the same'?
