Hi All. I just want to let folks know that a lovely, pristine soundboard recording of the Prince show from Feb. 14, 1982 in San Francisco has been released for free by one of the free boot labels. An early Christmas gift as it were.

Please never buy bootleg recordings and especially not from a signe that has no love for you or Prince.

I think it was fairly regularly featured on the Controversy tour, but yeah, don't know if it's had an airing beyond that, I suspect not. The version they play here is really good, I've always been rather ambivalent as regards the studio cut but live it's nicely beefed up with the guitar part being brought to the forefront and some pretty brutal, almost metal-like riffing. Most of the setlist seems fairly standard for a Controversy tour show, but I'm always glad to have soundboards and I really love the rawness of this era live.

Anyway, I'm glad my initial scepticism proved to be unfounded, the fact that stuff like this still comes out after all these years is really incredible and a great reason to follow Prince news even if you're not into the new material.

ya whats so bad about releasing a tour CD one at a time so we don't have to bootleg. Anyway i know it will be good for sure. Head always sound good from this tour!

That sure is one really great version of Head during this show. The bass and guitar playing at the halfway point of this 13 minute jam is fantastic!!!

did he always say "no is your mama" as a disclaimer for everyone who thought he was gay during the dirty mind tour?
