Reasons why you still bother with Prince Mine:
- He keeps wanting to do things his way and keeps refusing to answer to no one as a total creative type. Once upon a time, I had a psster of J.S. Bach in my room -- now I'm too old for posters but if someone dared me, I'd put up J.S. Bach and Prince on the same wall, no problem. - He has a vision and doesn't care if it's in perfect harmony with the world, since the World has little to show in terms of artists of his caliber. - He could be playing by the rules and make loads of cash, but just like old Ludwig Van, he's not about to curtsy to generous benefactors. He knows he is IT and they are merely lubricating his creativity -- Beethover once walked miles rather than perform for his sponsors, as would be expected of any bankrolled musician.
Just a few -- what keeps you hanging?

Prince? Prince is cool. It's The Artist Formerly Known As Prince that can't get it together.

he's arguably the greatest musician/artist/entertainer of all time....why not?

He's still interesting, if not the songwriter he once was. That's ok- I'm not the same fan who listened to "Lovesexy" 1000× on my Sony Walkman in 1988 either.

He's been going through a delayed and extended mid-life crisis but I'm hopeful the Prince is not gone forever. And leaks from The Vault are worth more than gold.

Because the music you hear in your teenage years stays with you forever. It becomes part of you.

I still love his music and live shows and he is the only person to move me with his music , especially with his 80's and early 90's music. And i need to know whats in the vault.

Just because he ain't (or wont allow himself to be) as good as he once was, doesn't mean is still isn't good. He's worth bothering for, no matter what era. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Because he's still surprising me all these years later. I don't like one album but then I love the next one. It's a bit of an adventure. Outtakes. The bullshit we talk about here. Boredom. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I didn't even buy his last 4 albums. After MLPSound/Lotus proved to be the typical few good tracks drowned in mediocrity I gave up. Sure if a new record comes out I'll listen to it but I only bother to stick around in hopes the 1978-1989 ctalog gets remastered and outtakes appear.

Originally it was the eccentricity and the out of this world music. Now, althothough i've grown tired of the eccentricity, there is always the occasional earcandy and a live performance. There is no other like him.

Because sometimes, he's still cute to me.

I've invested too much! I can't possibly ever stop bothering! He can still bring it. As far as i'm concerned, there realy will not be another like him. I can still find something only Prince could do in every song of his (that i've Heard). If you've ever started to bother, don't bother stopping to bother... "Whatever skin we're in

Because a recent jam like "The Gold Standard" shows me he is still capable of throwing down hard but he refuses to do it. But I'm at the point now that I'm not going to continue to spend money on albums that contain only one, or maybe two good songs, just to keep the old fans to continue buying his albums while he sells out and plays in the sandbox trying to attract the little kiddies. I'm accustomed to having entire albums being good and now that has stopped and I have also stopped throwing away my money on sellout projects. I'll just simply have friends send me the actual good tracks and let him see how far he gets with the audience he's trying to sell out to when the money from the old fans stop. . . .
