Is there anyone Prince is grooming to succeed him or anyone at the moment that can? His Royal badness took the throne when Lil' Richard graciously abdicated as Prince of rnb, rock n roll.. who will take P's place. anyone who says Bruno Mars gets a kick in the privates [Edited 11/15/15 2:16am]

hummmmm... I think Judith is a great choice.. she's an amazing singer. Stage presence can be worked on if succeeding Prince. I think Prince was trying to groom Andy Allo to be the next him, but that won't work. Male? I don't think he has anyone in that seat.
Also, Nik West is great too, except Prince isn't grooming her she's doing it herself. Although she's probably the closest prospect.. vocals, musician, stage presence, visual... but honestly, THERES ONLY ONE PRINCE!!

Prince isn't grooming anyone. He believes that he's the best that has ever been and ever will be and he also has been trying to convince himself for decades that he doesn't age and will not die. Grooming someone would hamper his ability to believe that nonsense and accepting reality is the surest way to succumb to it in his mind. It's all about the fantasy, y'allz. What looks like grooming to you is just helping new talent in his mind. He feels he is irreplacabow, (as Beyoncé would pronounce it).

I don't think Prince "took the throne" from Little Richard. Little Richard's heyday was at a time when the record industry was blatantly racist in their business practices: white artists covering his songs and their covers performing better on the charts this Little Richards' originals, him making a mere pittance from his recordings than the publishers, radio djs and labels that profitted from his music more than they should have been. Bottom line, Prince has his legacy and future artists have to carve out their own musical mark. I doubt any artist in the future will match his work ethic, ability to play music in multiple genres and have idiosycrasies that are his or her own touchstones in music, fasion and business. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

No. It's not his place to give place to someone else. He's a musician and that's it.

Janelle Monae anyone? The next Prince could come from completely left field - I always really liked Peaches, and her performance art / electro style kinda reminded me a bit of P (and not because of the sexual stuff) - can't remember the exact statement but it was something like she wouldn't move to the mainstream but it would have to move to her. A new Prince for now and today may not be what he was back then, and to be cast in that role may not appeal to us but to the teenagers at that particular point who'll grow up with him or her. "succeed" him?
What does that even mean?
He's a musician - it's not as if he's the only one and can bestow that title to someone else.
No offence intended here, but surely this is a great example of taking Prince far, far too seriously?
There is no "next" Prince, in the same way there's been no next James Brown, Michael Jackson, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dylan or anyone else you care to mention. They all influenced others and were influenced by those before them - that's not a succession, that's simply how any art works. So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?
