I know they wouldn't be original masters that he wants, but they would be new masters he would have.

But, would record stores actually keep them or buy them to keep on shelves and would anybody, even the diehards, go out and rebuy them at full price?

He is free to redo them and put them out there, but with no real difference to the originals, would he just do it to satisfy himself anyway? or to try and create a hype about the whole deal?

Yes, I'd buy them all again. It would be better if he did
it like others and included an extra disc with each one
containing outtakes, b-sides and rarities. If he did that
I would certainly buy them all.

If released as the albums like they are now, I think I
would buy most of them, but probably not as quickly or
as completely as with new tracks included.
