I really like the Taja Sevelle version, especially the guitar solo, which isn't Prince.

I can't wait to hear this in full. I was disappointed it wasn't one of the tracks included on HitnRun.

Eye love ONE-MAN-BAND quirky !! The vocal layering is unmatched & hypnotic. 's different voices just get better with time. This reminds me of the Xcitement when Eye first heard the snippet of "Stare"! Eye can tell Phase2 is going to put me over the moon.

it's not a "mega hit", but 1000 X's and O's is #13 on the Urban AC chart today with 641 spins in the past week and a peak audience of 4.5 million listeners.

^ ok, that's really something.. in Prince world.. cool...

ps. I'm not exactly sure what makes a song into a "hit" these days....?

I always liked Taja's version. The clean airiness of the drum track especially and the chorus. But something seemed half-backed with the bridge and the the phrasing of the verses outside of the chorus. I'm looking forward to hearing this to see what's changed in this version of the song. I like the keys/bass use on this. Sounds like if Sly were performing a happy Prince song.
