The thread title says "Cancelled" but there is no information about a cancellation. Source?

Also, these pix aren't from WB, they are from that cdsondemandonline.com shop that was offering that 2 CDR set Purple Rain Special Edition that they claimed was official. My review from 2 years ago suggests otherwise.

It's all good thedance!! I want the remaster too!! (well, I'm not really interested in the "remastering" because of the brickwall loudness that will bring, but I cannot wait for the possible deluxe edition bonus material!!)

Interestingly, after my review, the rep that sent it to me claimed that they had updated and fixed all the mistakes and promised to send me a copy of the update. It never showed up, but, after my review of the copy they did send me I'm surprised she even talked to me again.

Yeah, if it was 'official' WB would not be making all kinds of 'mistakes', so it's a boot trying to be passed off as official.

Somebody is trying to make a fast buck.

Prince tried SO hard to make this happen, but Warners hate money... it's the only sensible explanation.

You'd be surprised! Madonna's last greatest hits was one of the messiest things I've ever seen released by a major label. Songwriting credits wrong, songs mastered with audible distortion, incorrect dates... Of course, that could also be the fault of Madonna's team.

Yeah, the rep that I was in contact with really stuck to her guns with claims of being legit... right up to when I never heard from her again.

If you haven't yet, check out the review thread, some of the claims they made were laughable.

I highly doubt it's coming, with "highly doubt" being quantified as 99.9999% positive.

And to answer the question posed in the thread title, who knows? My guess is Prince bears most if not all of the fault, but that's only a guess.

I still dont understand why WB would cave to him and return his masters without an iron guarantee of remasters. Makes ZERO sense

I've given up on this project.It ain't gonna happen.

Bruce Springsteen just released a 7-disc deluxe edition of his 1980 album 'The River'.

Fleetwood Mac are getting ready to release a 7-disc deluxe edition of their 1979 'Tusk' album.

So,I'm not sure that I believe the "nobody buys CDs anymore" theory I'm pretty sure that Warners desperately wants to do projects like these,but Prince is the one who is holding back.
