..i guess u people can always find SOMETHING to complain about....
Its true with what the funksterr said though.
Since he decided to jump on the R&B bandwagon in the 90's, P just hasnt had it in him.
U mean the same Prince that made "Do Me Baby," "Let's Work," "International Lover," "Adore," ect? R&B has always been Prince's base...But I'm going to let u roll with that bandwagon theory.... --- There are people on this board who hate RnB who need to the fuck over it or move on. RnB is Prince's base he is not leaving it behind. Seriously! What are these people smoking? The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U. |

Every song sounds like the same boring crap he has done to death in recent years. I recognize the incredible musicianship in play in those clips, but it's BORING without a great song to go along with it. By itself it's just a special effect in a movie without a script. Not hating, just being honest. Whatever happened to cadence and melody during the verses? There are rappers (not autotuned), who use more meoldy while talking than Prince sings during the verses of his songs. That vocal song-clip is a good exampleof Prince church-shouting the verses instead of singing. I'd bet he sings the chorus of that song though. He's played that card too many times in the last 15 years.
Interesting how much you're extrapolating from snippets you haven't heard the whole thing of.
I listent to a lot of music and I can tell from the clips, these songs are just 'meh'.
Prince has been leaning toward his own brand of gentlemanly-early-1970's- soul in recent years, which is understandable, but just not his forte. At least the way it's coming off is just not hot. He has a newer clip up and it's equaly dull. Remember J5's "All I Do"? What carries that tune is harmony, pacing, and melody. Same for 'Giggolos Get Lonely Too', in a slightly different way.
Lately, Prince just start slapping around his bass and shouting how respectfuly-horny he is for his girl... and that's just raw potatoes bland. It's not romantic. It's not dreamy. It's not sexy. To the ear, it's not inspired and passionate. Furthermore he has WORN that trick into the ground. He really does need to develop his melodies more. Especially if he's going to go with his tenor voice. A lot of funk musicians, get bad-azz with their skills on the instruments, add a lead vocal and think they've got a strong product. So far this seems like Prince has his songwriting set to 'auto-pilot'.

Prince needs to do this and Prince needs to do that... blah blah blah...
I really wish Prince would turn around and tell U how to be human too... |
