What I learned from "Revelation" While listening to REVELATION I realized something. Prince can craft an amazing ballad ripe with emotion, complete with an understated and beautiful arrangement when he desires. His vocals are nothing short of stellar in this performance and the guitar is just as impressive without it being over the top. An album of songs in this style with mature vocals, live and organic musical structures are what I've hope for from Prince. This is the sound I presumed Prince would've evolved to by this point. I know there's an audience for an album in this vein. Far more of an audience than teens and 20 somethings that he's been swinging for (and missing) for several releases in a row. It's a shame Revelation is wasted on a forgettable album that's full of generic jazz we've heard before that undermines this fabulous song. Not to mention all the other songs we've all heard before. Further proof Prince cannot construct an album anymore.

The problem he's been doing for the last 15 years is his ability to craft some amazing songs, but can't sequence them properly to make a decent strong album.
I mean look at songs like:
The One Waisted Kisses The Word Dreamer 1000 X's & O's Anotherlove A Million Days Sticky Like Glue Future Soul Song Somewhere Here On Earth
...
all great great songs, on underwhelming albums.
