If he was singing lead on Whitecaps, this would make the list.

The last year's music, for me is vomit-inducing. I'm not even being sarcastic. Just THINking about 3redEyeCrap, AoA. HnR, the afro, the stupid South Park Prince logo, ALLONEWORDSONGTITLES, Josh, Hannah, the stupid sunglasses, the twin sunglasses designers, Essence interview, Baltimore, guitar-plug fiasco on SNL, Purple Rain and Outtakes, Clouds... ill

Wow...that's a lot of heartbreak you had to endure there...I feel guilty, as I've been blessed with much joy during that time (my favorite artist released two albums on the same day that I thoroughly enjoyed; he put on a performance I really liked on a late night show, even with a relatively minor equipment mishap; he released some one-off songs that I had a chance to listen to and decide whether I liked or not--some didn't do much for me, but that couldn't take away from the songs I did find to my taste; and then he followed it up with another album that I've listened to non-stop, even though I think I may have enjoyed it more if he kept the same creative control as in the past)...oh well...hopefully you'll find a way to persevere...

Sorry Prince caused you so much personal discomfort. You seem to care more than he does, might be a bad sign.

Don't listen to the haters, funksterr! Prince's music has long since been paying the price

for the fact that he never grew up.

More like some fans have long since failed to outgrow the music they don't like, like any normal person would do.

Those songs combined would have made a great Prince album for me. Unfortunately they were scattered over three albums. Oh well, at least we all get to pick our own favorite songs, not one list would be the same most likely.

Although it's definitely true my taste has become better (unlike yours - 'Baltimore'...), I still like a lot of the stuff recorded between '79 and early '96.

Prince is a walking and talking American Tragedy.

This is probably true. For Prince his music is about money so he can get some from the next chick. I seriously doubt much else matters.

I agree with you Stephanie. I have really enjoyed the last year of Prince music quite a bit. Its the most fun I have had as a Prince fan in over a decade. The music has been fantastic and I have been cranking it. I learned a while back just to let the people who hate his music hate it. Your not going to change their opinion so just bump it and enjoy it yourself and just let them continue to be disappointed with an artist who in their eyes will never be what he used be. I hope Prince keeps cranking out the new music. He has been on a roll to me!!

Thank you blackbob, it is obvious to me you have an impeccable taste!

Now seriously, if this set of songs was released as an album it would have easily made it into my "Top 10 of all time" Prince albums. Just a fun collection of good songs that mash together lovely.

I felt like that about Breakfast at first too, but have grown to like it more and more.

I don't like The Breakdown personally, I find it just plods on and I can't stand the production/distortion. Wow would make a good alternative for Breakfast, one of the best songs of Plectrumelectrum. Also the original version of This Could Be Us would have fitted this list.

If we look back a bit further back then Groovy Potential would also have fitted, as would Extralovable Reloaded (second version with the horns). Hmm, I think I am gonna make myself a nice playlist now!
