Who wants Prince to put together a new girl's group? I miss 'em! Just for kicks, what do you think the new group would be like? What would their name be?

naw, there's enough non-talented, half naked broads in the buisness.
NOTE:If Prince were indeed to start a girl group with Mani as lead, it wouldn't be called Mani6, he would change Mani's name I.E. Denise(Vanity) & Patrica(Apollonia) ~KiKi | |

It really seems strange to me that through the 80's and very early 90's, Prince always had some sort of spin off or side group or solo artist be it Vanity, Apollonia, The time right through to Mavis, George Clinton and Ingrid Chavez.
Now that he's got an independent label, NPG, and him always going on about new and upcoming musicians, I would have thought he would have a huge amount of associated artists. I thought that was the case when he done the Larry G and Chaka CD's, but now there's no one. In 1985,I heard about a new girl group that Prince was planning to put together.They were called "Neapolitan",and they were gonna be the total opposite of Vanity/Apollonia 6.Their songs were gonna be "clean,very Supremes-ish".There was gonna be a black girl,a white girl and a redhead (hence the name Neapolitan).Oddly enough,it sounded like a cool concept to me. I wonder if Uptown or Per Nislen has any info about this group? Were any songs recorded? Were any members actually chosen? | |

Yuck.
Prince is so far past doing anything like Vanity 6 - it would probably be a gospel jazz choir led by the very creepy and scary Tina Graham. Look out for Felix's Glamorama project, and of course W.I.T. who are fab. --------------------

Oh yeah.
JUST what he needs, now.. ANOTHER girl group! Okay, I'm still rather ill & in a GOOFY mood, so I'll bite: how about... "SOYMILK 6" Instead of 3 girls, it's been "upgraded" to 4 girls in the group (why 4? WHY NOT 4? like several things P does these days, no "logic" required!) In keeping with P's current views, the lead singer's name is "Modesty." She, like all the other girls in the group, wears a frumpy, loose-fitting white turtleneck sweater with matching, white, loose-fitting drawstring pants.. On tour, the stage set is "sparse", except for a large, white soy milk carton strategically placed in the back right corner of the stage, from which Soymilk 6 emerges at the start of the show. Indeed, under the careful guidance of their mentor, their setlist (reworked from old V6 & A6 material) is a crowd pleaser: If A Girl Answers, Invite Her To The Next Prayer Meeting 3 x 4 = 8 Dry Heave (formerly Wet Dream) Drive Me Home White VW Bug (formerly Blue Limosine) Some Kind Of Proselytizer In a Canadian Villa (featuring Modesty's ukulele solo) then, the encore is usually either: Healthy Girl (instead of Nasty Girl) or Sex Saver (instead of Sex Shooter; a song about "abstinence") or BOTH, if the girls are in a particularly wild mood! Then, of course, after their scorching set.. leaving the crowd begging for more, they enthusiastically pass out copies of The Watchtower near the concession areas.. I'll see you tonight..

a "parting post", before I retire from the org for the evening & nourish my body:
the names of the other 3 members of "Soymilk 6" have just been (cryptically) released: in addition to the sultry, lactose-tolerant lead singer Modesty.. there is: "Lactatia": better known for her DDD bra size than her singing ability, "Lacky" promises to get the crowd riled up with her on-stage yoga demonstrations.. "Demmi-Creme": don't let her "half 'n half" complexion fool ya.. she's got the goods & knows what to do wit' 'em! ("what the goods r, we just don't know yet.." a perplexed Prince was heard to say).. "Susie Jr": homage to original V6 member Susan Moonsie, whom Prince apparently never really got over. Instead of carrying Susan's trademark teddy bear in her arm, Susie Jr carries a (stuffed animal) cow. Management is still trying to confirm that Susie Jr IS "18 & over"... OH SHIT, y'all... I am REALLY getting excited about this group!!! I'll see you tonight..
