Basically they get a guest each week to listen to a well known album for the very first time. This week they have Stephanie Boland from the New Statesman listening to Sign. That's a cool concept. Her review is an interesting read, especially since her profession is writing. I liked her overall take:

"I love the sweep of the thing: how it’s distinctly American and thematically about love but more about the joy of other people, of longing, of self-definition, all at top speed."

I only got through about a 1/3 of the bio and site's review that preceeds her review. That sucker is looooong.

I also really enjoyed the part where she talks about walking through the streets listening to it and how that was utterly different to sitting down and she just wanted to dance. It was his dancier music that I first got into so I can totally relate to that. Prince's music, of course, often sounds different in different situations. I was never into U Got the Look till I heard at the O2 in London. The album version always just sounded a bit dated to me before. Love it now.

Haha, wow Ruth and Martin sure don't like Prince. Decent week though.
