Somebody more knowledgable than I can probably describe it better, but from my understanding it was a re-recording of the original track album track Prince actually released in 1999 I guess to benefit from the pre-Y2K excitement or something. It's pretty bad. All of it, pretty much--but the best (well, the most ridiculous) is "Rosario: 1999," which isn't even a version of 1999, but Rosario Dawson talking over the Litte Red Corvette verse chord changes. A diary entry, about racial injustice, "Christmas is Pagan" theorizing, and other such. Standard Princely breaking down of the "ganda and the propa" (a quote). If you're in the mood for conspiracy, take a listen. The actual 1999 mixes are a sad mess, none of which needed to happen (even if they did call one of them "The Inevitable Mix").
