Here's what Prince should have done....

"Love Sign" should have been on TGE (the configuration that he turned in to Warners in the spring of '94).He should have never submitted the Come album (to those of you who love it...don't worry...it would have leaked by now anyway,lol).

So,TGE comes out in the summer of '94,with "Love Sign" as one of its singles.The song is catchy enough to have been a hit.

See how easy that would have been? Prince always has to make things so hard!

A configuration of TGE with TMBGITW, I Hate U, Love Sign, Days Of Wild, instead of the release of Come, the other side projects such as 1800 New Funk and NPG Exodus...

I personally believe TGE would've been the last real commercial Prince album in terms of quality music as well as a commercial success.

I agree.As I keep insisting,Prince should have kept Come in the vaults and held back on the side projects too.

The summer of '94 should have been devoted exclusively to The Gold Experience,featuring many of the songs you listed.He would have been riding high that summer,with a strong album filled with numerous hit singles.

It was such an easy strategy,but he had to make it so hard!

Yes, I remember it being on the radio and also the video got quite a bit of airplay. I'm sure I recorded it off Big Breakfast or The Chart Show - those were the days!

I agree it could have well have been a hit at the time.

I saw the video on TV quite a bit. But I also saw the video for dolphin quite a lot too. I think this was about the time where Prince stopped doing promo videos for singles and instead did videos for songs you couldn't buy.

A good song so catchy, but i love the remix version not the original; is great very 90's but the video to me is very cheap.

Warners can't demand an album that they don't even know about.He should have only handed them TGE and that is the album that they would have had to release.

They had ears to decide which album was the most commercially viable. They made a mistake. Prince threw a lot of BS at them at the time but that one was WB's mistake, not his.

I agree. It had a significant amount of Radio 1 airplay and it seemed there was a new buzz around Prince in the UK after his first UK No. 1 - people I knew who weren't Prince fans were talking about it. A missed opportunity for Prince, especially considering the great Teddy Riley/Shock G remixes that were done for it.

Main reason why WB blocked its official release. Bad enough someone at WB reportedly told him his hit making days were dried up, then he hits number one with a single independent of WB. They certainly weren't about to sign off on him possibly doing it again.
