Songs like When the Lights Go Down I love When the Lights Go Down. The intro is hypnotic. Piano is sweet. And singing is exquisite. Song structure is a little loose, but I don't mind. What other songs sound like this one? Amy recommendations? It can be by Prince or by somebody else. I just want more stuff like this. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

A lot of the Old Friends 4 Sale album is along those lines. I'd recommend She Spoke 2 Me in particular. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

That's why it's one of my favorites ... well, let's say in the better half of the albums. How about songs on other albums? The Sensual Everafter has a similar feel to me. Ballad of Dorthy Parker from One Nite Alone ... Live perhaps. Hmm, what else? It's a bit like jazz combined with neo-soul. Some songs on Erykah Badu's and D'Angelo's live albums fit the bill. "And God Created Woman" and perhaps "Te Amo Corazon" and even "Crazy You" have a similar vibe but are missing the kind of loose jazz feel that "When the Lights Go Down" has.

I have said it before but this has become one of my all time faves from P as has that album.
She Spoke to Me obviously fits with it well but Money Don't Matter, Dorothy Parker, anything from Madhouse, Junk Music, Yes, and Susannah's Pajama's go with it too.

For me it is a one time thing.Which adds to the fantasticness of it. I love that song, and because of the loose structure. . For me the nearest relative to this are the songs on One Nite Alone (piano). Especially the first four songs are loose in the same way. This is where Prince shows notjust his craft, but his musicality.

A couple of songs are sort of similar to WTLGD. C-NOTE is actually pretty similar to me. Loose song structure, jazzy improvisation. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"
