Kinman Broadcaster in The Artist HTA490 I'd like to replace my stock pickups in my Hohner "The Artist" with Kinman Broadcaster pickups. I've heard great things anout the pickups and have read that Prince used these for a while in his Madcat.
My luthier took a look at the guitar and said there may be an issue for the following reasons: 1. Looks like the current build uses Strat style pickups - Will the pickups fit? - If they do, will there be noticable gaps?
2. The bridge does not look like a Tele bridge - Will the pickups fit - or will cutting, routing be require?
My luthier is recomending Strat style pickups, or making sure the Broadcastes will fit prior to ordering.
So - if anyone on the ORG has made this upgrade I'd love to hear how it went.
Thanks! | |

Prince uses Fender Noiseless Strat pickups in his Hohner tele-style tele, (however, it's not a tele). If you like the way his guitar has sounded for the last several years then you'll need to use strat pickups, specifically the Fender Noiseless Strat pickups.

Yeah, I've got those in my Strat. I know he uses them now, but I believe there was also a period when he used the Broadcaster pickups. There are some thread here that speak to that.
