To escape the likes of HitnRun, I plunge myself deeply into my purple archives - over 35 years in the making. I find that Prince that took my breath away, spellbound me, and even made me believe he had some unearthly musical magic at times. Reviewing all the wonderful things he has given us over the years, I came across the version of A Case of U from the Joni Mitchell tribute album. It is one of those pieces that you really have to stop whatever you are doing and just sit and listen for 3 minutes. It is one that only Prince could do like that. Simply stunning. So much so that it negates all other indiscretions of more recent Prince projects. It takes you to that place that Prince music used to take you.

I think I'll stay.

That is a great version. I wish he wouldn't omit/alter lyrics, though. If you like that version, the version by James Blake will bring a tear to your eye. Holy hell that guy does it sooo well. I think it compares to Prince's version for tingling the spine.

Of course, Sometimes in Snow sin April. THat would get me right now if I put it on and I have been listening to it since Cherry Moon.

BUt the sentimentality is what is actually getting me. It is Prince the way I had come to love him so much - doing things that no one else could on his own instead of hiring punks to make him a trend chaser

I quite like the ONA piano version and I've heard it live, but I also like HinRun.

I'm a rebel that way.
