1. Crystal Ball (arguably Prince's best song ever)
I have to agree. What made Crystal Ball so amazing was the song Crystal Ball itself. An incredible true collaboration between Prince and Clare Fischer of EPIC proportions. Per Nielsen said that Prince felt it was the most important thing he'd ever done.
.
No less than 9 of the tracks are irreplaceable must have's, including:
2. Movie Star
3. Dream Factory
4. Make Your Mama Happy
5. Cloreen Baconskin
6. Last Heart
7. Goodbye
8. Sexual Suicide
9. An Honest Man (though I much prefer the movie version)
.
And lots of very good others like 2morrow, Strays Of The World, Hide The Bone, What's My Name, etc.
. I love Good Love (definuitely in the top 10 on the album) but it was already a released song on Bright Lights, Big City, so I have a hard time counting it as any major part of Crystal Ball.
You just mentioned some of the reasons that 10 songs is not enough: On my list I had to omit the great: Last Heart, An Honest Man and Hide the Bone.
.
Good thing we didn't have to include the songs from The Truth on this, since this for me is the best album of the 90s for me, with no filler tracks at all (yes, I don't get the virtriol against Animal Kingdom). |
