We don't know that.

I had the same thought but fact is that we don't know that. Josh could perfectly have played it in an attempt to emulate Prince's typical keyboard sound.

The title of your thread is misleading, it should be a question.

I agree that we don't know it.

But doesn't it seem to be true?

I know, I know.... speculation.

Its funny how people here think that noone else can play an instrument except Prince. And then when they do people get offended and hate the album because its not Prince. Really funny to me. Its ok for Prince not to play everything you know!!

You.

don't.

know.

that.

Any skilled musician with the right gear and a good ear for minneapolis sound could have played that.

Gee haven't you heard those 80's shows by The Time where they replay the tracks exactly as Prince recorded them?

For that matter I have dozens of records, some by people who aren't even from p's camp, where someone plays a synth riff or programs a linn drum machine exactly the way Prince would do it.

I agree that evoking the possibility that it may be Prince is totally legitimate. As I said I myself think it's likely to be him. But we. do. not. know. So please do not change speculation into fact, likely into surely. This is obscurantism and a very bad example for the teenage fans who read this message board.

I agree. I noticed that too, and the percussion part sounds exactly like Prince. There are a couple of other spots where I swear I hear Prince on keys, but it's like a sprinkle here and there.

.

The Purple Rain-like descending piano line in the remix of 'This Could B Us' sure sounds like P to me as well.

.

Also, the Donna Grantis guitar solo in 'Ain't About 2 Stop' sounds like she and Prince are playing two parts together in harmony, similarly to the way they do that live.

There's a keyboard line on June as well, around 2:25, which I'm pretty sure is played by Prince.

The wooh is on the one!

I always take Prince's official album credits with a grain of salt. There are a few parts in HITNRUN where I think it's Prince on keys, and this one of them. But databank is right - none of us really know for sure one way or the other.

Josh has skills on the keys, did you see the 3rdeye livestrem video that was broadcast with him and Prince taking turns playing the piano? Pretty impressive.

The best part of the worst song, imo. I love that section, and edited out the rest of that mess of a song so I can forget it exists. lol

The Donna Grantis guitar solo is 100% Donna Grantis. No question. Both guitars are her. It's blindingly obvious to guitar players.

I think Prince plays the little keyboard solo part in June...

I agree, quite a bit of it feels like Prince with Josh doing a fair amount of remixing later.

I find it odd that people are OK with other people playing in Prince's songs but not Josh. Prince was lead guitar only on Purple Rain (the song) with only minor overdubs and strings . . . so the fact that he's supposedly guitars-only on HnR shouldn't really matter.

There are probably countless examples out there, one of which is Power Fantastic. Lisa did piano, Prince did vocals. How is that different than Josh doing keyboards on HITnRUN?
