SOTT, the grand statement on musical past. A master at all of them and major turning point. After the synthfried geetar heavyness of Controversy, 1999 and Rain, a more warmth to the music that was started with Parade but completed on SOTT.


TRC, a return to form and musicianship. This is his Achtung Baby or All That YOu Cant Leave Behind.

Actually, Rd, could it be argued that Chaos & Disorder was a major turning point for Prince?

It marked the start of Prince compromising his 'new' album releases, and therefore, his musical legacy. It also was the start of consistent critical lauding against consecutive releases that followed Chaos & Disorder, up until The Rainbow Children.

With the exception of The Truth, which was buried as a bonus disc in Crystal Ball, Prince's mid-90's crisis was a long drawn out affair of sub-par album releases, failed hit making attempts, poor business practises and almost unanimous fan backlash.

I guess it's not a classic turning point?

I guess I am the only one who things that TRC is just an OK album. I just don't see how people can consider it one of his best. Maybe it is is one of is best after TGE but to me it is just ehh. But that is my opinion.

Gold follows that format, as does Emancipation, Come, and
a few others. I'd say TRC follows it as well.
