If Prince was on pledge music ... How would Prince do if he was on pledge music?
Would he see it as a step backwards as an artist? I wonder if it could be a route for such a prestigious artist to take in the future?

In a way he already is, his one and only donor being Jay-Z.

It would be cool to see Prince on Pledge yet sadly he just wouldn't get the ethos of Pledge.
Prince just wants a large advance without having to work to build long-term sales.
Oddly, Prince complains about large corporates handling his works, but he only ever deals with them. There is irony for you!!!
He could do things on his own, and he has, but he doesn't make the money he made in the 80s - sadly, he thinks this is owed to him. But as we all know, you have to do the work to warrant this.
But, yes I agree, Pledge would be great, but he would never put the effort in as Trevor Horn did on the Frankie Goes To Hollywood box set..

Prince has no lack of ways to put out albums though. Nor does he need money to record them. Change it one more time..

I would assume for two reasons.. the primary reason to generate what he would consider fair terms on streaming revenue from his back catalogue and it fortuitously provided him a way to promote and release new music without relying on a traditional record company. Change it one more time..
