How is or was Prince's piano tuned? Hello!
After viewing this video
I started to wonder: In what way is P's piano tuned?
Does anybody here know? Or can anybodyt discern, measure or derive from the recordings?

Apparently prince discovered that the guy that used to tune beethoven's piano was cryogenically frozen... (not sure how he found out... something about him picking up a wifi signal detailing top sectret information in the middle of a table tennis match)... anyway... so prince paid a cool (pardon the pun ) 10 million bucks (money he'd managed to save by paying eric leeds low wages) to have the guy thawed out and brought to paisley park... he then had one of his flunkies (josh) explain to the piano tuner exactly what his job would entail | |

Prince's pianos will be tuned like pretty much any other on the planet - using equal temperament. However, every piano is individual and requires tuning to "itself". That is to say, certain harmonics and vibrations will intereact with each other differently to another piano, so the piano tuner must reference the basic tuning using a tuning fork against other notes on the piano to find the ideal. Which is why piano tuning requires a specialist.
The above article is interesting, but it really only works in the world of mathematics. In the real world, those variations stated are not discernible by the human ear, so the piano sounds in tune anyway, despite the fact that in the strictest sense there is a small variation in the absolute pitch. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Pitch standards have varied greatly over the centuries and all have been rather arbitrary. "Scientific pitch", as it's called, aims to attain the most mathematically "natural" tuning possible. But trying to overturn what is considered an almost global standard is quite difficult. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...
