Albums and the clothes Prince wears to promote them When Prince has a fantastic suit or costume designed to wear when he promotes a quality album, you know it's going to be special. You can't judge a book by the cover, but Prince albums often reflect the intricacy of his costumes of the moment.
The gown promoting The Gold Experience was just as gorgeous as the album: The paisley suit on LotusFlow3r was as magnificent as the album: The Gold lamé suite for AOA was pretty darn nifty too:

Prince dressed more normally around the time of TRC and Musicology. I think that argues against your thesis here. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I'm not fond of either of those albums nor the way he dressed at the time. Suit-wearing Prince is yawn. I love everything he wears posted above! |

I think TRC is one of his best, and Musicology was a solid if a little dull album. The Prince sporting a sweater on the front of TRC is one of my favorite pics of him. Mature music, mature appearance. That being said, I love his funky space alien look on AOA. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I agree. TRC showed Prince's jazz sensibilities almost as much as some of his jazz oriented work (Madhouse, NEWS, Expectation). It was funky, jazzy, and all Prince. Maturity is at a premium here so I suspect I am the only one who can appreciate your perspective. Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE

I agree. I really love that era and his appearance in it. Like a more mature SOTT/Lovesexy look with the long hair, glasses, and sweater. Maybe do, just not like did before

I'm certain your suspicions are correct. Only you and the Sasuage King can possibly have valid and mature perspectives.

But I'll part with mine if the price is right. Let's start the bidding at $100. Seriously though, me on the maturity patrol? I thrive on dick jokes. I love his outfits from '94/95... really made that era visual! 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?

My least favorite Prince look of all time is when he wore the big puffy white jackets around Emancipation's release in 1996. That sucked. Well, that and his crazy moose knuckle on the front of the Rave Un2 the Year 2000 video. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"
