It's just another transitional phase; Nasty Prince is cumming back(!) Think about how many hip hop artists careers would be dead in the water if they couldn't use the NWord to help sell music. Prince used to only espouse veganism too, but he's back to including non vegan references.*

*Breakfast Can Wait

"Grits and gravy, cheese [vegans don't eat dairy products] eggs [or endorse theft from foul] and jam ..."

"Hotcakes smothered in honey [or bees for that matter] ..."

*June

"Pasta..." [is usually made with eggs. See above.]

a helluva stretch

Yeah, I work in a health food store, there are vegan alternatives for all of the above.

lol

Roll your eyes all you want. I'm around vegans all day and they consider the alternatives to be the same thing, just without the animal products.

I like to eat animals and think the alternatives are gross myself, but, it is what it is. wink

My wife had to cut milk and soy out of her diet (which means OUR diet) because our daughter has milk protein sensitivities. There are DEFINITELY vegan cheeses. And they're more experimental than HnR.

Ok, so we all know that Prince does not 'speak' swears as it is against his JW faith, however, whether you speak a swear, or imply it, as in the HITnRUN album by simply leaving the swear word out of the sentence, the end result is the still same, that being the complete thought, swear included, is now in the listeners head.

It is not just HITnRUN, but implied swearing has been around well, since he stopped swearing, and that is cool, he can do whatever wants, and I don't mind it one bit, I simply find it an interesting observation and perplexing why someone who is so against swearing will still plant the thought in folks minds.

Peace

That's an insulting generalization. Certainly we've all known people it applies to, but for instance, I don't know anyone else that believes words can be bad that still says them but self censors in a way you know exactly what they mean. In my experience, Prince is unique in this respect.

.

Oh for crying out loud, where do you think a word like "gosh" comes from? Or "golly"? Or "gee"? http://blog.dictionary.co...h-and-gee/

.

All invented so religious folks could say "the bad words" without saying "the bad words". http://agentfrey.blogspot...-cuss.html

I don't know why but I feel like Shut This Down could use a few "fucks" in it.

Yes, okay, but, I don't hear actual "curse" words in my head when I hear "golly". Prince's method clearly puts the word he's censoring in mind, no?

What I think is crazy is that if you don't want to say the word 'ass', don't write it into your lyrics.

Totally agree. He should be more creative with his writing then.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Prince would reply to this : if you're hearing swearing where there is none, that says more about you than it does about him...

Which is total BS.. He knows exactly what he's doing.
Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Yep. I find that it's the most intolerant folks who usually preach Tolerance!

So, that COEXIST meme is BS.

It reminds me of the time I saw a college kid with a SAVE THE EARTH bumper sticker on his car toss a cigarette butt onto the pavement. But I digress...

As a flawed Christian, I do miss the cussin' Prince. I must confess. Pun intended.
