Alternate, unreleased Erotic City on Tidal? According to another thread's comment the ending of Tidal's Erotic City is a so far inheard alternate ending, a bit shorter than the original with an added synth sound. I don't have Tidal so I can't tell. Given, that EC is a hell of a classic, I thought it deserves a thread. And this alternate mix needs to be saved for posterity before Prince's music is out of Tidal (which will certainly happen soon given P's past record). how wierd! sounds like a mistake at the end! it should fade out with the beat breaking down with the guitar, but it makes a 'weeeeeeerrrr' noise at ends abruptly. totally spoilt imo.

Either do I... The U.S. version of TIDAL doesn't have all those singles.

The start of Erotic City also has the very end of another track over it. It's as if it's been taken from a sequenced album, like Hitnrun. Like if the single of Hardrocklover was just lifetd straight from the album, you'd maybe hear a the end of X's Face at the start and the beginning of Mr Nelson at the end.
Has Erotic City 12" ever featured on a compilation album? It's possible that these couple of notes aren't even Prince-related. [Edited 9/17/15 13:23pm]

You are right. For one second at the beginning. There is a high pitched sound. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan

OK I got it, it's really weird. It indeed sounds like it's from a mix or a compilation with the end of the previous track at the beginning and the beginning of the next at the end. I really don't see why in the world Prince would have added those sounds by himself. He had toyed with certain tracks on NPG Ahdio Shows (The Stick, Race, Pop My Clutch) but it was done elegantly, not an absurd mess like that. The sound quality is VASTLY superior from my rip that (I think) came from the German CD though I realize I had this @128 which sucks (Note to self: get it @320). I hear some vinyl cracks, is it me or is this again a vinyl rip? This would make the sounds at begining and end even weirder, though The sound at the end at the end is VERY similar to the opening of Mico Wave's Misunderstood (check it on YT) but the pitch is different so I don't think it's that. In any case, this makes it a new alternate version since it's an official stream. But this is weird as fuck

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

No the sounds at the beginning and end aren't from IWD4U nor WDC. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Maybe they are streaming the song from an, as yet, unreleased album, like, say, the Purple Rain Deluxe Remaster Purple Vinyl Edition with accompanying Live DVD.

Same version that's been available on downloads for years. In fact, it was the first version of erotic city I heard (cos i'm relatively young). It was the same version that was on spotify as well.

I remember the 13 year old myself getting the 12inch (of Let's go crazy) and then putting on the b-side : being blown away by this cool funk. What was that... ? At that time, I had not heard of Parliament etc... Man, this was awesome
Still have the 12 inch by the way, so no worries what sound there is on Tidal (which I love)

Bullshit. I just went on Tidal, no Lets Go Crazy single and the only erotic city is the one on the hits and its same old same old. Stop lying! I wish u heaven

Yeah, Tidal has LGC with ECITY (extended) - I'm subscribing from the UK. At the end there is some random music. Likely, as others have suggested, the beginning of another track from a different artist. So, from a compilation seems plausible.

Yep. the version I bought from iTunes years ago is this messed up version with the descending keyboard note at the end, and the brief glimpse of sound from something else at the beginning. It sounds like it was carved out of some DJ mix.
I always intended to complain to iTunes and get my .99 back, but never got around to it.

Mmmh OK, this is getting better and better. Thing is u'd assume the files on iTunes would have come from WB while the files on Tidal would come from Prince. Still in that case it seems to be the same source. Really makes me wonder where all those difital versions of songs that are online come from. Anyone remembers when this weird version was put on iTunes originally? At least what year? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
