Probably the Rainbow Children. I hated the lyrics, but I loved the music, so I was torn. I grew to accept the lyrics as mostly trash and just enjoy the music. The music is awesome, some of his best IMO.

Yup. Like, we thought Madhouse's Prince was forever gone, and N.E.W.S. was more of a Yes (the band) album, which translates too not much.

And there he goes, in full jazz mode again. There are enough universal songs, though, to make the album enjoyable. "Muse 2 The Paraoh" is a fantastic trademarked sensual/sexual song, "She Loves Me 4 Me" is a Skipper willing to letitgo of his ego, "Last December" is agnostic enough so it turns into a post-Lovesexy anthem rather than a JW's "The Ladder". Pheew, that was close.

The first time I heard SOTT (it was 1990-91 and I was 14) and I didn't understand the music. I didn't dislike it but I didn't understand what I was hearing. It took me a week or 2 to figure it out. At about that same time I wasn't so much into anything from FY to 1999, nor GB. It took me some time to really get into those records.

.

After that I loved every Prince album nearly but NPS took me by surprise. The first few days I was like "OK cool but nothing new under the sun", then I soon realized that I was groovin' on the thing all the live long day lol

.

Then came PE. At first I really hated it. I hated the whole thing save Guitar. It took a few months but songs started to grow on me and even though I stiff feel this album doesn't work well as an ensemble, and there r some songs I still dislike, I truly fell in love with some of its segments, but it was really song by song, over the course of the next 2 years.
